Hi!
I am trying to wrap my hand around the new MODFLOW-USG and I can't find ANY information on if or how it is posible to model transport with it. So anybody knows whats the state of transport modeling using MOFLOW-USG or can point me into the right direction for some information?

Thanks,
Martin

Hi Martin,

Block Centred Transport (BCT) package is only currently in usg-beta, which is distributed with Groundwater Vistas (and maybe other guis, not sure). You could try asking the author of mfusg for a copy of any documentation. Otherwise you may have to rely on using a gui like Groundwater Vistas for now.

One thing I can tell you about this package is that it works and works well, with a variety of mesh types (I have used voronoi and quadtree meshes with bct). I recently validated the bct package against a few standard benchmarks (from feflow/surfact manuals), and an existing feflow model. I also successfully applied it to a reasonably complex/large regional scale Managed Aquifer Recharge model, with local transport simulation only; this included calibration to an MAR trial data set. I know of others who have successfully modelled transport in usg/bct through Connected Linear Networks (CLNs) too. Happy to provide further info if you need it.

Chris.
