High Output Head Values in MODFLOW Run

Dear MODFLOW Support Team,

I am currently working on setting up a steady-state simulation, but I am facing difficulties in obtaining realistic results. Specifically, the computed head values are extremely high, which suggests that there may be an error in how I configured the model inputs.

I have attached my MODFLOW files to this email. Could you please review them and help me identify where I might have made a mistake in the setup? Any guidance or corrections you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Nasrin,

Please check the boundary conditions; also, try to increase the hydraulic conductivity values. Hope this helps.

I hope you are doing well.

Regarding the high output head values you are encountering in your MODFLOW steady-state simulation, it's possible that the issue stems from an incorrect definition of your boundary conditions, specifically, an incorrectly assigned no-flow boundary condition. If a no-flow boundary is assigned to all sides of the model domain, it can lead to the accumulation of water within the model, resulting in unrealistically high head values.

To resolve this, please ensure that you have at least one head-dependent boundary condition, such as a constant head or a river boundary, or a specified flux boundary condition like a recharge or well boundary, to allow water to enter and exit the model domain. Without such an outlet or inlet, the model cannot achieve a stable head distribution.

Please review your boundary condition assignments, and let me know if this helps to resolve the issue.
