Hi all,

I'm a somewhat experienced groundwater modeler. I've worked in a range of commercial software as well as ModelMuse and a few easy models built in python environment using flopy.

I'm looking to learn the calibration / sensitivity analysis process more rigorously so that I won't depend on the PEST integration in commercial software.

Does anyone know of any basic UCODE / PEST-tutorial? Preferably using it with a MODFLOW-model.  And on that note, are there any plans for integrating PEST or UCODE with ModelMuse?

Thanks! This forum is great!

Richard winston is working on pest integration, but you can use modelmate that works with modelmuse and UCODE
modelmate documentation has tutorials, but it just works with sparsely paremeterized models

One way to learn PEST is to open up the batch files that the commercial interfaces create in combination with the PEST manual.

The batch files are a series of command line prompts that tell you which exe you need to use to generate/run PEST and if you run them yourself in command prompt you will figure out yourself.

The PEST manual is a bit hard to read but everything you need to know is in them.

If you are still stuck I’ll try to write up a document on how to generate then files.

ModelMuse already supports UCODE via ModelMate. I am working on supporting PEST.

The pest homepage also has been updated with several tutorials

You might also want to check the GMDSI initiative

There are worked examples and also the possibility of home-tutoring.
