Happy New year all, and let’s make this a good one.  We meet again on Saturday January 11. When we  welcome George Guim to conduct our group lessons while Kenny and Verna are in Buenos Aires for some heavy duty coaching.   George lives in San Francisco, originally from Chile and has developed the concept of “scientific tango. He has an M.A. in dance education from Stanford, and doctor in education from the University of San Francisco. Teaching tango  since 1991.  Founder of Scientific Tango (2017) specializing  on basic biomechanics of leading-following in tango.  Thus, through the side-to-side step, a seemingly simple  figure, students  are exposed  to technical concepts and  dance complexities of this step.  This becomes the common framework  to apply to other figures in the  dance. Private lessons will be available as well.  There is an opening for a private lesson in the morning as well as after lunch. This is a great occasion to socialize, grab a meal or just a glass of wine and dance some tango, working on material covered in class.  A great occasion to just come and get acquainted with us.  Our schedule for this event has changed   as the Salsa dancers are starting at 8 pm. We  gather around 5:30 for a meal and start dancing after 6 pm. We hope to dance till a little after 7:30 pm as the Salsa dancers  start at 8 pm.   SATURDAY:  January 11,  20245,  at 11 am. Group lesson with George Guim at  Studio V Pilates and Fitness, 4459 Spyres,(off Bangs). $20 - Come as a couple for $30.     MILONGA

MILONGAS OUT OF TOWN: Saturday:  Sacramento: At Tango By the River, 128 J Street, Old Sacramento, 2nd & 4th Saturday, 7 pm, $10. The dancing starts at 8:00 pm with traditional tango music until 11:00 pm, when the switch is to Nuevo tango and alternative music.  Light refreshments are provided, and you are welcome to bring your favorite beverage.  Cost is $10    At Firehouse 5: 2014 9th Street.  The 1st and 3rd Saturday milongas. In addition, lots of requests for more advanced classes, so the pre-milonga class  is int/adv.   Sunday:   Sacramento: At Tango by the River, 128 J Street, Old Sacramento:   Count Glover  hosting a Twilight Milonga every third Sunday of the month at Tango by the River! with DJ Count playing traditional tango music from 6:00 to 10:00 pm for your dancing pleasure!
