I received this from Modesto Tango’s insurance agent.  I would like to hear from you all on the topic.  Our last insurance bill was $50, so we would have saved about $16.  We have never had an accident, but there is always a first time for everything.

Hello Mary ,

Some clubs may not realize that the cost of your Federation insurance is for both a Commercial General Liability policy and an accident policy. The General Liability insurance is required by the venue but the accident policy is not, it is for club members.

I am looking into ways to reduce high insurance costs and one way is to drop our accident policy. In previous years 30% of your insurance cost was for the accident policy. Also, if there is a claim the insurance company will invoice the Federation for a portion of the money paid to the claimant.

Please give me your keep/drop or abstain vote, opinion and questions by April 5^th.

One vote per club, keep or drop determined by majority, and the result will apply to all clubs.

Note: If your club has a board of officers please forward this email to them if appropriate.

I find it hard to imagine an incident that would require our use of this insurance.  However, since the cost is nominal, it is better to be safe than sorry.  Keep it.
