Last summer I attended 3 Happy Hour events sponsored by the Law and Political Economy Project's New York City chapter. On each occasion I wore my "Ask Me About MMT" t-shirt, and each time I talked myself hoarse answering people's questions about our take on Political Economy. The attendees tend to be law students from NYU, Columbia, CUNY and other schools; lawyers early in their careers; and law professors. They have at least heard of some MMT-adjacent academics (e.g., Harvard's Christine Desan) and MMT advocates who are now law professors outside of NYC (Rohan, Raul, etc.). So there's a good basis for after-work-hours conversation. I even blogged about one of these events.
This summer they'll be having Happy Hour events on the following dates, exact time and location TBD:
If you would like to attend, the best thing to do would be to join their (low volume) mailing list which, like this one, is organized as a Google group: lpe-nyc-events. You can also contact me off-list for further questions.
