We discussed the 9th chapter of model thinker - Last on the bus (LOTB) value and Shapley value. Thought about a few applications of these models in IPL Auctions, Project Management and HR Analytics (People analytics).
We thought of taking a break from the Model thinker book. The 9th chapter is also a good place to give it a break as the book goes on to Network models from the 10th chapter. It was becoming more theoretical and readers wanted to get their hands dirty instead.
Starting next week, we are following Andrew Gelman's pedagogy from Active Statistics. It is a pretty hands-on material. Active Statistics has a week-by-week plan from Chapter-3 (Part-2) which we want to emulate, although at a lower speed. You can see that it prescribes reading material every week from Andrew Gelman's Regression and Other Stories along with some assignments, homeworks and real stories Gelman worked on.
To put it simply, here is the reading material for next week:
3. (Optional) Active Statistics (Chapter-3) also has some assignments/homework. We'd discuss them over the call.
If this material is overwhelming, we can pace it down. But give it a shot!
See you next Sat!
Best,
Krishna.
