ModelSim PE Student Edition 10.3 License Error??

I have re-downloaded and installed ModelSim 3 times, and gotten different licenses for each one, and are all giving me the same error when i go to "simulate" and "start simulation..."

Is it my license or something else?

I am suffering from the same issue. Its fresh download, new installation, registered using the link, got the license, put it in the correct folder, still its not working. Done this twice in last 24 hours i.e. from download to registration but to no avail. Please help.

i am guessing that you must have put your .dat file at the wrong folder. Just paste it at C:\Modeltech_pe_edu_10.3 instead of the subdirectory win32pe_edu. It should work after that. Hope this helps

Thank you for guidance. It works now. Strange thing is that according to instruction that I got from ModelSim, .dat file should be put in win32_edu. Anyhow it is working now.Thanks again

i have the same error. i have downloaded 10.3c version and i followed all the instructions correctly...i.e I uninstall the previous version and installed 10.3, filled out license form and then got license file.. i downloaded it and saved it in c:/Modeltech_pe_edu_10.3c ..... kindly help me

Smart account configuration has you running day to day as a regular user and elevating as needed, not running as admin all the time.

Mentor seems to have their software expect otherwise. If you run as a normal user and UAC up for install then you are installing as the admin user and the license associates with that account.

A quite annoying situation.

Mentor guys, you reading this? You might consider some better designs.

Hi Houssem,

if you already copied your license file (student_license.dat) in the correct folder (C:\Modeltech_pe_edu_[VersionNo]) and it still does not work do what David said: Try to run ModelSim as administrator. This should do the trick.

I had the same problem . This is how i fixed it. When i installed modelsim, in the end it directs me to a license key page! I filled it but did not receive an email! So if you guys dont receive a mail from modelsim then you have to re-run the installation all over again!! So once you receive the license file.dat  paste it in the modelsim folder, the you will not face any such problems!! :) Hope this works!
