The model presented in Annals of Biomedical Engineering, Vol. 33:1607–
1630, 2005 (with an acknowledgement to Tom Coleman) presents a "novel
representation of the
rsna effect on renin secretion not present in previous models [Eq.
(61)]"; there are no references provided for this novel
representation. This predicts only a 30% or so increase in RENIN
SECRETION RATE with an increase in RSNA from normalized value of 1 to
2. In playing around with QHP and assuming a balanced effect of RSNA
on both alpha and beta receptors (hard to separate them at the level
of the kidney without blockers), a similar increase in RSNA yields a
100% increase in CIRCULATING PLASMA RENIN CONCENTRATION. Is there a
simple numerical explanation to resolve this difference ? - even
though it is realized that it is difficult to compare RENIN SECRETION
RATE and CIRCULATING PLASMA RENIN CONCENTRATION.
