Hello everyone,

My grandfather (in-law) has a 1931 Ford AA Mail truck, located in Oakfield, NY, that he restored and we have posted for sale in many places. We are really in need of selling the truck and I am hoping that any of you can provide me with ideas of best places to advertise, or pass the word on to any collectors that you may know. This really is a stunning truck and we’re in a tight spot because buyers don’t seem to want to buy in this economy L Any help is appreciated!

Here is a link to the truck that I have posted a couple times about www.sherwoodsmailtruck.com

Thanks!

We sold out 1929 Model AA Mail truck in a few weeks for the right price 32k.  Truck was perfectly restored and a show winner.  Images of your truck show a natural wood look on the interior which is not period correct to how the trcuk was built - looks nice though.  How much are you looking to get for it so that I may pass information on to people who were interested in ours when selling.

Mr. roth:  As I can tell from your email, the market is limited and prices are down.  I saw two restored AAs at the Seattle sale and both were no-sales.  One finally sold for 55K and the other somewhere around 30K.  Your grandfather-in-laws looks to be a very fine restoration and "should" sell in this market for somewhere between 25 and 50....if you can find a buyer.  Shipping to one of the major auctions would be expensive, bit perhaps  it would sell in Arizona at one of those sales.  Howeverf, unless you're willing to sell it "no reserve", you might get to ship it back home again.  I'm sure you've thought about all of this and have talked to knowledgeable folks in the industry.  The sad case is, as you have noted in your email, it's worth more than it will sell for.....by the way, I'm not just trying to knock down your price, I'm not personally in the market for a truck.  I'm sure you have listed it in Hemmings Motor News and on Auto Trader (collector car section) and all the obvious spots.  I wish I had a good lead for you, but I simply don't....best wishes and I hope things work out for you folks    gary crum ----- Original Message -----

Thanks for the reply Gary,

We do know that it would be a miracle to get 65k or anywhere close for it. We have it listed in several places and I guess will have to more seriously consider an auction route… perhaps with me in the back row bidding on it too to ensure it doesn’t sell for too little?

Anyways, please keep my email and the truck at the back of your mind in case you ever run into a collector who might be interested.

Thanks for the reply Bill,

It is priced at 65k right now, and that includes a custom enclosed trailer that hitches to a truck. We know that 65k would be a miracle and he’s invested far more into it than will ever get for it, especially in this market. We also know that the interior should be painted - grey, if I remember correctly?) I know that my grandfather would entertain any offer right now. Thanks for keeping this in mind in case you run into anyone who you think would be interested!

Frank, I know you’re not referencing my truck, because mine’s not sold. Congrats on whatever it is that you sold though. Don’t want anyone out there to be confused J Mine is still available and for sale!
