I'll follow the people, I just want to hangout with you guys and not have some jumped up pillock telling us how to format our messages. I had initially assumed that he was in some way affiliated with google, but when I discovered that the LowendMac people create these lists as a "community service", and coincidentally claim all the credit for the services that google provide (there's even a message from the "List Mom" talking about the "massive bandwidth costs they incur"), I decided it would be a cold day in hell before I kowtowed to a petty martinet  like Stamson. I was impressed by how quickly he identified the trouble maker though, I went to moderated in 2 messages and banned in 3.

Anyway, don't blame Google for the actions of that jerk, but mailing list or forums or both, are all fine by me. It may be easier to entice OWC Ben over to a new mail list, but I don't really know. I'll hold off sending the next batch of invites for a while in case you guys decide that you would prefer not having a mail list.

Hey Dan...

Honestly, the more groups/forums the better... I won't stop going to the google group either way... I just prefer the format of a good message forum. I used to run a forum system for a big site with 50,000 members so I've got enough experience running this stuff.

Come on over and post some messages... Nothing wrong with multiple hang out locales :)

Heh, I was banned in one message. I don't understand why I was banned,
though. I left the group right after posting it, then received an
email shortly after "inviting me" back into the group by the nanny.
Maybe he did that as an attempt to rub in my face that he banned me?
*shrug* Good riddance. I for one am glad to overthrow the forum
Gestapo and am happy we don't lack others in our group who were
willing to take action against it.

Hi, Dan. Thanks for the invitation.

I've never seen such an intrusive and childish list nanny as the one
at the initial ModBook group.

Same here.
Not to mention, if the Google Group is set up by default to make us
all "top posters" why would they even have such a ridiculous rule to
begin with.

As much as I didn't like the Google Group format, I fully intended to
let that be the "official" forum for us to gather at... but with all
that's gone on in the last 24 hours, not any more LOL.

over there.........

Between TabletPCReview.com, Axiotron's forums, here and the one I set
up, I think we've got some good ways to communicate and stay in touch
with each other. Like I said to Dan, no reason we have to stick with
just one. They'll all get used!

The atmosphere is absolutely better here :D

Thanks from me too!!
p.s. my ModBook was shipped from Palatine IL on Feb 1st. It moved to
Chicago and is now in Louisville, the UPS Centre.

I think it should arrive in Köln (Germany) in the next few hours or
days and then drive south to me!

Hi, Chris:

I know how you felt when you received the message that your ModBook is
shipping. Elation!

And even more so when it arrives.

I'm delghted with mine. My big DEVONthink Pro Office databases really
fly compared to their performance on my MacBook Pro with 2 GB RAM.

Yes, that's because my Mod Book has 4 GB RAM. I would have seen a
similar speed increase if I had a new MacBook or MacBook Pro, and that
would have been cheaper.

I've always thought that Steve Jobs was wrong in his dismissal of pen-
based Mac tablets.

That's because I think clamshell laptops are a terrible ergonomic
design when used in the lap.

Whats wrong with pen-based computing? I learned to write with a pen or
pencil when I was 5 years old, and have been doing that for a long
time. So why shouldn't I be able to write and draw on a computer?

For me, the ModBook is the new super-Newton. It's a fuII-fledged Mac
running Leopard for all my applications. It's comfortable to use when
sitting in a chair. I can attach a keyboard for heavy duty text input
-- or dictate text or write and draw on it.

Freedom! Unlike my MacBook Pro, I'm not tied to a desk or tray table
when using the ModBooK. (Handwritten from my recliner in front of the
fireplace!)

Regards,
Bill DeVille

Hi Bill

Thanks for the insight!

Apple told us that the finger is more intuitive than the stylus.
But in my opinion the stylus is more intuitive than the keyboard too...

There are so many occasions when the keyboard is just plain wrong.
Just right now, for instance.

As you point out rightly, the ModBook doesn't limit you to pen input.
It actually adds pen input to the existing ModBook.
My Bluetooth Keyboard waits to be connected for text input...
(provided that the Bluetooth Bug is resolved).

Actually, my ModBook just made the hop from Louisville, US to Cologne,
Germany.
Just a little more than 500km or 310 miles to home sweet home.

I never owned a newton, but I had basic beginner table drawing pad for
quite some time now... Can't wait to try the ModBook now!

WAIVEFORM HAS RETURNED!!! Hold your applause, please. I have been
quiet for a while because I HAD to buy an HP TX2000 tablet for
school. It's not bad, it will work for school for the time being.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for making this new non-anally-monitored forum.
There are just no words to describe that last experience. Here I am
trying to use the internet for what it's best at... communicating with
people from all over the globe at light speed ... and I'm having to
worry about frickin' posting etiquette??? Come on.

Anyway...there is just SO much about the non-Mac world that makes me
laugh though. Everything from the packaging to the documentation of
'other' companies computers is laughable once you've owned an Apple
product. I do have to admit that I like using MS OneNote on
Vista...the handwriting recognition is phenomenal. However, it is
Vista and NOT OS X, and the hardware is stupid, not elegant.

I'm here too everyone.

I got dropped by the net-nanny. I guess she didn't like my posts
either... Oh well, their loss. Too narrowminded.

I'll see ya'll here or at Amy's place...

I know exactly what you mean. I have tried every product similar to
Onenote for mac and have been disappointed with every one of them. I
guess I will just have to keep using Parallels.
