Hello Sven,

I am not sure if it is related to gearman et al. I understand that nagios schedules the checks and gearman execute checks and then submits the results back to nagios.
I have a simple setup. A NagiosXI server (2 CPU, 2 GB RAM) with nagios 3.4.1, gearmand-0.25-1.i386 and mod_gearman-1.3.8-1.el6.i386 running on the same server.

Around 550 host checks running (avg 3 min) and 1050 service checks running (avg 10 min) from this server. I have double checked the configuration.
For some reason, I see that over time the number of checks keep increasing and comes back down after restarting nagios process.

Please see attached the screenshots of system and monitoring metrics. The attached screenshots are taken when the server was running for 5 days without being bounced.

Is it nagios scheduling these duplicate checks for some reason.

Appreciate your help in advance.

Thanks
Ashish

Hi Ashish,

You better ask the Nagios XI support then. I have no access to any commercial nagios version.

Bye,
Sven

Thanks Sven.
I am going to stop gearman on this nagios instance and going to watch it this condition still persists. Thanks again for your quick support on this.

Regards
Ashish

Hello Sven,

I disabled gearman on this Nagios instance and it has been running for last 7 days without restarting. I do not see the condition anymore. I want to use gearman but can not use it because of this issue. To investigate further this issue with gearman, where should I start?

Many thanks in advance.

Again, you use closed commercial software, so please ask their support -> http://support.nagios.com/
