We have an Apple Laserwriter connected to a Mac II and we want to use
that Laserwriter as one of our network printers. The printer has an Appletalk
connection to the Mac, and the Mac has a thickwire Ethernet connection. Our
department has MicroVAXen running VMS, DecStations running Ultrix, and a couple
of Suns and other Unix machines. We want all of our machines to be able to use
this printer.

With that in mind, I think we'll need a Macintosh program (running
in the background under Multifinder) that will read print jobs coming accross
the Ethernet and print them out. Likewise we'll need software for the VMS,
Ultrix, and Unix machines, some of which we already have.

Where can we (I) obtain such a program for the Mac, preferably public
domain? If you know of commercial products, how much does it cost? Also,
please share tips, experiences, etc. I thank you for your help (If you've read
this post, you've helped whether you have anything to say or not :-) ). If
there is sufficient response, I'll post a summary in a couple of weeks and keep
this info handy for other net folks who encounter this in the future.
