1. It doesn't support plot because the superplot package posted to
mod.sources does a much better job than plot and supports PostScript.
2. It supports PostScript files produced from an AT&T TARGA board.
3. It supports S PostScript files.
4. It supports downloadable PostScript fonts (Transcript doesn't).
5. We're working on a set of PostScript special-effect macros for troff
that will work with devps.
6. Devps PostScript files are much smaller than Transcript files. The
prolog overhead is approximately 2K vs 12K, and special fonts that
support troff characters not in PS are only loaded as needed. devps
is also smaller (about 10%) and faster (about 10%) than Transcript.
7. Devps supports all LaserWriter Plus fonts, Hershey Gothic and script
fonts, and ANY downloadable font you have (there is a program for
getting the ditroff font table from the PS device that we posted
to the net about two months ago; this is distributed with devps).
8. We're working on handling inclusion of Illustrator (or any encapsulated
PS files made for inclusion) and GEM files (probably Windows files, too).
We're also looking at supporting Sun NeWS as a proofing platform, and
supporting its graphics files for inclusion.
