I have noticed some new entries in my error logs today:

inflation failure, size=-1
[Mon Jan 12 20:12:50 2015] [warn] [mod_pagespeed 1.9.32.3-4448 @28631]
inflation failure, size=-1
[Mon Jan 12 20:12:52 2015] [warn] [mod_pagespeed 1.9.32.3-4448 @25401]
inflation failure, size=-1

Any idea what would cause this?

This indicates that zlib ran into problems attempting to uncompress data.
It'd be worth looking for fetch failures in your log that are correlated
with the message, as that'll help to determine why this is happening. It
could be corrupt gzipped / deflated data, or it could be that mod_pagespeed
is seeing uncompressed content with a content encoding header indicating it
is compressed.

These were the only entries in the error.log for that time frame - do you
mean trawling through the access logs for the entries around this time?

I've noticed that some elements are being served compressed and I'm having
these entries:

Previous version (1.8.31.6-4412) works fine.
Server is an Centos 6, with zlib-1.2.3-29.el6.x86_64 and httpd-2.2.15-26.2
(custom).

gianfj: I think this looks unrelated to this bug topic. You might want to
(a) open a new bug report for this and (b) include the full URL to your CSS
file. It looks like an encoding problem in the file.

I have been keeping an eye on my logs and have not seen any more inflation
errors - so who knows what caused them....
