"PD in a Box"

Using ICTs to engage students in the classroom is so easy!  The eLearn in Remote Communities project has several components.  The first component is PD In A Box which allows teachers to engage in professional development virtual workshops delivered by facilitators in Cairns or Brisbane via web conferencing tools on the internet.   These virtual workshops are designed specifically to cater to staff needs and range from ICT practices, Numeracy strategies, Literacy training, Early Phase learning, Science and school leadership.  Schools are able to access facilitators from Smart Classrooms, eLearn FNQ Centre, FNQ ISSU, District Office in Cairns and so much more.  They will have opportunities to participate in workshops and conferences without leaving the school grounds.  While participating in these workshops and professional development sessions, the teachers are encouraged and guided through a better understanding of ICTs throughout the C2C.

The lovely lady Aboriginal teacher I mentioned is Theresa Feletar.  Her passion and enthusiasm for teaching children in very remote communities is wonderful.

This is so great!
Thank you for sharing. We have a similar project called Digital Doorway. We are currently trying to get it mobile friendly. Would she be willing to pilot something specific like that?
