The art of photography inside your phone? Mobilography says YES! New
technologies entail the appearance of new trends in art. And what at
first is considered to be just an amusement then with time becomes
classic. Mobilography is destined to be popular and already led to the
creation of the "World Society of Mobilographers".
At the beginning of the last century the appearance of the first
narrow-film camera Leica evoked an ironical smile of professional
photographers, who used big glass plates producing photos of an
acceptable quality. However this 35mm film was doomed to become the
"primary story-writer" of the XX century. In comparison with modern
digital cameras the matrices of mobile phone cameras are microscopic in
size, but they give new possibilities to an artist who gets the best of
all technical drawbacks turning them into incontestable merits of his
work.
Mobilography - (from latin mobilis - "mobile", and greek grapho -
"write") - is a kind of photography art which is aimed at the use of
different electronic devices, such as mobile phones, palmtops, compass,
binoculars, lighters and so on, with built-in digital cameras
originally not designed for professional photography.
The genre of mobilography appeared at the beginning of the XXI century,
with the wide spread of electric appliances fitted with cameras.
Mobilography implies placing the emphasis on devices with an optional
camera. As a rule, such kind of camera is fitted with minimum equipment
providing low quality of photos produced, that is, according to
Mobilography, not an obstacle to the production of high-quality works
of art, or Mobilographies.
Unique communicative properties of Mobilography open up a possibility
of non-verbal communication, thus eliminating such anachronism as
language barrier. Now you can express your feelings and emotions with
the help of mobilographies, which are able to capture and transfer
rather better than words whatever emotional nuance.
Mobilography casts some doubt on the necessity to buy expensive photo
equipment and states that photos taken in the result of "mobile
photographing" are not inferior and even in many respects thanks to
their "occasionality" are better than those taken by professional
cameras and special costly contraptions. Mobilography is concerned when
an obviously poor quality becomes incontestable advantage, it adds some
artistic unicity to a photograph, compared to the so-called "Large
brush stroke technique" in art.
"World Society of Mobilographers" was founded in spring 2004 with a
view to unite mobilographers from all over the world and to establish
friendly relations between them by means of modern communication means.
Various festivals and mobilography exhibitions take place in different
corners of the world what contributes to the strengthening of
friendship and trust between diverse nationalities. The headquarters of
the Society is situated in Moscow and nowadays it's getting more and
more popular. Many Russians, Europeans and Americans are already the
