Global Arts Competition Inspires You To Take Action on Climate

March 17, 2015 (New York) -  For the 5th year, NYC-based nonprofit, the Human Impacts Institute (HII), is launching their Creative Climate Awards, a call for international artists to “make climate personal and practical” through visual art, performance, and short films.  The goal?  To get more of us to connect with already-existing solutions and to take action on climate today, not tomorrow.

“Climate change is complex and often overwhelming,” commented HII’s Executive Director, Tara DePorte, “our Creative Climate Awards bring together creative minds to engage us with their artwork and to show us that each of us can, and must, make a difference.”

Past Creative Climate Awards works have ranged from performance pieces on oil consumption in Times Square to a 3,000-pound ice sculpture of the words “The Future” melting on the day of the Peoples’ Climate March.  This year’s Creative Climate Awards are happening in partnership with an impressive lineup of public and private partners, including Climate Week NYC,  the Positive Feedback consortium based at the Earth Institute, Columbia University, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO), Global Crisis Information Network, Inc., School of the International Center of Photography,  and ArtBridge,  This year’s applicants are competing for substantial awards, including acceptance into a month-long exhibit at the stunning, 42nd Street TECO headquarters and $2000 in cash prizes (also sponsored by TECO), as well as individual exposure to a soon-to-be announced list of international, high-profile judges from the worlds of arts, sciences, policy, and entertainment.

Applications for the 2015 Creative Climate Awards are now open and submission details can be found at HumanImpactsInstitute.org. The Human Impacts Institute and partners will also hold a press event and special Q&A session at 1 East 42nd Street, NY, NY 10017, on Tuesday, March 24th, at 3:30pm for all interested applicants, press, and supporters.  All are welcome to attend.  RSVP is recommended to in...@humanimpactsinstitute.org
