I am wanting to present at this conference about transportation to work, as I have had some funding this year from Pathways to Independence to fund that.  Is anyone else interested in joining me on that topic or another disability/transportation topic?

The Transition Conference is for young people with disabilities getting ready to “transition” to adult supports  and all the people around them.  Parents and educators primarily, but I really feel that transportation also has a seat at this table, and I know interest is high in hearing from us.

So let me know if anyone is interested.

I will not be in town during that time.   I wonder if one of the I & A staff who work with youth and their families to transition from the children’s waiver service  into the adult service world might be available.  Sharyn is our Transition I & A Specialists, but she is also out of town.  Linda, Gayle, or Kate may have available staff.

Hi Darlene,

How are you doing? I am doing good..... Can you give me your cell number,
so when you do come I will be able to call you? Have you made your
reservations yet or do you know where you want to stay? I can help with
that if you would like. Keep me posted on when you will be in Ashland
(around what time) so we can do supper and maybe if we have time do an
agenda so we can cover what we would like..... We will have 2 people
attending one is Lloyd Hartwell from Bad River Transit and Steward from
North Country Independent Living (Ashland Office). They both would like to
watch our workshop, but not be participants in it.

The workshop starts at 2:00 PM and the Aging bus starts loading at 3:30 PM.
So that is what we are looking at for time. It might be a little later for
answering some questions, but should be roughly around 3:30-4:00 PM. I
wanted to give you time, so then we can plan on how and what to cover at the
workshop.

Darlene, do you have a computerized permission for to use people's pictures
or video footage? I was wondering what your looks like, because I did one
up and will email it to you on Tuesday. I do not know if I want to use mine
or if mine is a good one to use. If yours is on computer, can you forward
it to me please? Thank you for all of you work on this and for helping with
this workshop.......

Just keep me posted please, and thank you so very much with all of this.
You are the greatest.......

Hi,

I’m Director of Travel Training for District 75, NYC Department of Education.  We’ve been doing Travel Training here in the NYC public schools for 40 years and it’s made quite a difference in the lives of so many young people as they transition from school to the adult world. It would be fascinating to hear how your meeting with your local Transition Advisory Council goes.   If any of you would like additional information that might be helpful to you, just contact me.  I’m a great believer in moving mobility management concepts and practices into transition planning for youth with disabilities.
