My fellow ambassador Joann Hutchinson made the following request. Can
anyone help? Thanks
James j McLary

I am in need of bylaws and procedures to be used by an oversight body
in Polk County, FL who is implementing a volunteer driver program.

I have the by-laws for local coordinating bodies but do any of you
know where I might locate one for a volunteer driver program? Thanks
a bunch.

Good Morning James,

I am not sure if it will help; but, I can share the volunteer driver handbook that was created by the previous MM of Manitowoc County.

Hi, everyone. The NCST has worked with a number of volunteer driver programs around the country and provides resources through our library. Two specific items that may be of interest are Programs that Match Seniors with Volunteer Drivers and Transportation Solutions for Caregivers: Solutions Package for Volunteer Transportation Programs.

How to Establish and Maintain Door-Through-Door Transportation Services for Seniors, from Westat, in partnership with the Beverly Foundation; and Supplemental Transportation Programs for Seniors from the Beverly Foundation, in partnership with the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety are also very useful documents in this area.

We have information on a variety of programs, a number of which we’ve worked with closely, and would be happy to set up individual contacts through our demonstration grantees, Senior Transportation Institute participants, NHTSA grantees, Area Agencies on Aging staff, etc. Please don’t hesitate to be in touch if we can provide further information.
