Is using a cellphone as risky as smoking tobacco?
The attached study from China has found risks for parotid gland cancer as large, perhaps larger, than the risk of lung cancer from smoking.
The parotid gland is a salivary gland located in the cheek, where cellphones are commonly held. Anatomical image salivary glands, including parotid gland is available upon request.
In the United States, parotid gland cancer is a rare cancer with about 2.5 cancers per 100,.000 people per year. Before smoking became common, lung cancer was also a rare cancer.
