Today, in Aurora (near Toronto) Ontario there was an
anti-Wifi in schools protest outside the York Region District
School Board office. The main organizers did 6 telephone
interviews today with one scheduled for tomorrow. CTV, CITY,
and CBC sent cameras and reporters. There were about 40 people,
some of whom were children. The protesters were just down the
street from the School Board Office at the side of the road near
a traffic light. The protesters had sandwich board signs set up
at either side of the Board Office driveway, lawn signs along
the road, hand held signs, plus handouts for the public. Some
people honked their car horn in support as they drove past.
The York Region Parents
are encouraging other parents groups across Canada and worldwide
to participate in Wifi-Free Wednesday.
