Electromagnetic Fields of Wireless Communications: Biological and Health Effects

Book Edited by Dimitris J. Panagopoulos

Published by CRC Press, Taylor & Francis

This is the unique book that includes contributions from top international experts on the biological and health effects of Radio Frequency (RF)/Microwave and Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs) used in Wireless Communications (WC) and other technological applications.

The authors are top experts without conflicts of interest, a condition that becomes more and more difficult to find in our days, especially in the particular field of Science.

Diverse topics related to physics, biology, pathology, epidemiology, and plausible biophysical and biochemical mechanisms of action of WC EMFs emitted by antennas and devices are presented. The possible consequences of the fifth generation (5G) mobile telephony (MT)/WC EMFs based on available data are discussed as well.

The important differences between natural and anthropogenic EMFs, and the specific physical characteristics of all WC EMFs that make them so much adversely bioactive on living organisms are for the first time illustrated and thoroughly discussed. The increased bioactivity of modulated EMFs compared to non-modulated, pulsed EMFs compared to continuous-wave EMFs, and the increased bioactivity of the real-life WC EMFs compared to simulated ones are illustrated and thoroughly discussed as well. The various pathological conditions such as oxidative stress, genetic damage, infertility, cancer, electro-hypersensitivity, organic and viral diseases, effects on human/animal brain activity, immune system, effects on wildlife and environment (animals, plants, trees) induced by anthropogenic EMF exposures, are extensively described, discussed and explained.

Finally, the most plausible biophysical and biochemical mechanisms of action at cellular level are extensively presented while most of other suggested mechanisms are also described and discussed.

The book further describes individual and public health protection practices, the exposure limits that are biologically- and epidemiologically-based in contrast to those adopted by governments, and the vital/therapeutic role of the natural EMFs of our planet.

“This book will have served its purpose if it contributes toward a “real and honest science”. A science that is applicable to life and works for the benefit of humanity, not for its destruction or enslavement.”

Dimitris J. Panagopoulos

“In a time when opinions, informed and not, are readily available through multiple journalistic, entertainment, and social media platforms, the attainment of factual truth is elusive. But it is only factual truth that can ensure societal decision-making that is both reliable and actionable. Therein lies the value of this coalescence of professional factual thinking put forth here by Dr. Panagopoulos

and his colleagues that represent a cross section of the world’s top scientists and their work on the biological impacts of wireless communications technology.” (George L. Carlo)

“This is great! A true ‘must read’, if you ask me!”  (Olle Johansson)
