I’m sorry that we haven’t been able to connect yet. Startup World Cup is just around the corner, so I wanted to make sure that you were the right person I should be reaching out to.
If not, would you do me a favor and forward this chain to someone who you think might be able to help?
Thanks,On Apr 12, 2019, at 11:58 AM, Carter boisfontaine <car...@pegasusventures.com> wrote:
Hi Miguel,I wanted to follow up on my note I sent around a week ago. To offer a briefer summary of my previous note — my VC Fund, Pegasus, runs a large tech event. We wanted to offer either free or 95% discounted tickets to the students and faculty of Berkeley City College. Pegasus’ mission here is to encourage innovation among the student population, as well expose students to international networks.
This would be a great opportunity to network and hear some incredible people speak. We’re making this effort for the sake of community impact. We actually doubled our venue size just to extend this offer to students.
Let me know if you’d like to take advantage of this offer.
Best,
Carter Boisfontaine

I wanted to personally reach out to you regarding a community impact effort we are making with our event, The Startup World Cup, which is a global-scale startup conference and pitch competition for a $1 million investment prize. We expect to have over 2,500 people from the tech community attending, many of which will be executives from top firms such as Apple, Oracle, Google, Facebook, IBM, Salesforce, and others.
The event has also had some excellent speakers in the past. Some of these speakers include:
- Reid Hoffman, Co-founder, Linkedin
- John Chambers, Former CEO and Chairman, Cisco Systems
- Steve Wozniak, Co-Founder, Apple
- Adam Cheyer, Co-founder, SIRI
- Marc Randolph, Co-founder, Netflix
- Vinod Khosla, Co-founder, Sun Microsystems
This year we have been able to confirm these speakers:
· Tim Westergren, Founder and Former CEO, Pandora
· Paula Tolliver, CIO, Intel
· Ray Lane, Former President and COO, Oracle
· Terry Jones, Founding Chairman, Kayak.com
· Josh Constine, Editor-At-Large, TechCrunch
· Rashmi Gopinath, Partner, Microsoft Ventures
· Deborah Magid, Director, IBM Ventures
· Jay Fulcher, Chairman and CEO, Zenefits
We’d like to invite Code Berkeley to the Startup World Cup. It’d be an excellent opportunity to both learn about the tech industry and network with industry influencers from around the world.
You can learn more about The Startup World Cup at:

I reached out to Code Berkeley because I thought you’d be interested in the networking opportunity with audience members from the big tech companies mentioned earlier in this email.
I’d love the chance to set up a phone call to tell you more about the event. Perhaps then you can tell me how to best extend this opportunity to the rest of the Berkeley City College community.
Let me know a few times in the coming week or two that work for you, and I’ll make one work for a call.
Kind Regards,
Carter Boisfontaine
