Self explanatory. I don't like sports, so the first few threads of OT
is just a bunch of crap to scroll past :)

The real solution would be to move them to some "Off-off-topic forum",
but I agree. They pose a problem. I think the most sensible thing
would be to have a preference setting to hide them.

Will do.

Added. This is in the Release 2 build and works for me. Just uncheck
"Show Sticky Threads" in the preference pane.

I don't think it makes sense to hide the stickies.

Sometimes the admins will make announcements there like "if you do
this than you'll get banned".

If someone uses their iPhone exclusively, they would never see these
things if that option was consistently turned off.

I'd prefer that the stickies are just sectioned off or visually
represented differently so that you know that you can basically zip
past them if you don't like them.

I think your concern is legitimate. I think a divider would be a good
idea in all cases. I think electing to hide stickies is fine, but a
small row that can act as a button to unhide them ad hoc might not be
a bad idea (since the preferences should be pretty one-and-done and
not require quitting the app to go check a thread).
