Issue: Images Loading Only When On Screen (Intended?)

Not sure if this is intended or not, but I notice that images only
load as you scroll down to where they are located.
I like the concept of "what I'm looking at takes priority", however
when the app is no longer loading images, could it be loading images
elsewhere in the page you are on?
It is a bit disorienting when you zipping around the page and see
massive gaps that could have been filled had the app been loading
images throughout, not just when focused on.
