Portland Startup Weekend (April 27-29)

Startup Weekend is happening in Portland again, this time April 27-29 at Portland State Business Accelerator. This is always a great experience. Be sure to put it on your calendars and take part in the Bootcamp happening on April 21.
Developers/designers are always in high demand at this event, whether it is PHP/Ruby web skills, or iOS/Android app skills, or Illustrator/PhotoShop, or HTML5/JQuery. As the one who designs the UI and writes the code and implements the ideas you get to really shape what is actually built. Your ideas and input matter just as much as everyone else’s. What you help invent could turn out to be either your next fulltime gig, or a side project with real potential, or just a great learning experience.
Coding doesn’t always have to be about making money and the pressures associated with it. The same goes for UX and designing touch interfaces. This event is a safe environment and perfect opportunity to take that new technology you’ve been waiting to try out and see how it helps solve a real-world problem. What you do with it after the weekend is entirely up to you.

Startup Weekend is an intense 54 hour event which focuses on building a web or mobile application which could form the basis of a credible business over the course of a weekend. The weekend brings together people with different skillsets – primarily software developers, graphics designers and business people – to build applications and develop a commercial case around them.
