THE IOS5 RELEASES
============
Last Wednesday we were somewhat chagrined to discover that our eurogames
did not work when freshly installed onto iOS5 devices. As such, we spent
the last five days rereleasing everything. Whenever we could, we also
added functionality from our TODO lists, to make the updates more
generally useful. As of this afternoon, all of our updated apps have
been approved by Apple. Here's what you'll find:

GOLD! (1.05): Updated the rules documents based on comments. The iPhone
version now has some pictures in the docs too, to clarify stealing and
end-game scoring. Added graphical depiction of cards you score at
endgame. For iPad users, you'll now see icons that allow movement
between our games and a slight improvement to 3-player AIs.

HIGH SOCIETY (1.25): Cleaned up menu on iPhones, making words bigger on
standard iPhones and bigger + crisper on retina displays. Also
incorporated new bidding formatting from Money, which improves look.

KINGDOMS (1.25): Made scoring screen more attractive by adding tint and
castle for winner.

MODERN ART: THE CARD GAME (1.02): Minimal add'l updates. We pulled in
our improved card-dealing code from Money and made the app buttons on
the iPhone fully work, so that you can jump from one game to another.
(This was just released an hour ago, so if it's not in your iTunes Store
yet, check back soon.)

MONEY (1.62): No updates other than iOS5 fixes, as we'd just pushed out
a new release last month.

OUR FIRST MACOS RELEASE
=================
Today we submitted Money for release as a MacOS game. It hasn't been
approved yet, but we hope it will be in the next week. As part of this
project, we converted our mobileeurogame codebase over to make it
MacOS-compatible, so we expect to rerelease the rest of our games for
MacOS if there's sufficient demand.

I'll send an announcement when this is actually released (though I don't
expect to talk about the MacOS games much here, as this is a *mobile* list).

OUR UPCOMING RELEASES
================
We've got two games in process right now, both of which have got first
cuts of their graphic design and UI done and and are between somewhat
and mostly done with the gameplay conversion:

WEB OF POWER CARD GAME: This is a conversion of the game by Michael
Schacht that's been published as Richelieu, restored to its original
theming. It's a two-player game of majority-control set-collection,
where both players are selecting cards from a grid in the middle of the
table.

ARMORICA: This is based on the small-press game by Eric Vogel. It's a
resource-management and card-management game that reminds me the most of
Bohnanza, as you're trying to create sets of unique cards in a hand that
you can't rearrange. It'll probably be 2-player only for the iPhone, as
that's how Eric says it plays best.

I've included some current screen shots of both games. As you can see,
they both feature more completely integrated backgrounds and graphics, a
direction that we're trying to move in. I'm happy with the results for
these two games, and am considering how to do something similar with our
older games (though Money has already seen the first cut of this with
its new status bar + scoring post-it).

My hopeful goal is to have both games out by the end of the year. We're
also planning to quickly release pass-and-play functionality for both of
these games. It may come out when the games are released or within a
couple of months afterward, depending on timing. When that functionality
is in-hand, we'll then do another re-release of all our other games, to
give them pass-and-play functionality too. That last bit will surely
occur in 2012.

Oh, and one other game that's pending is MASTERS GALLERY, a variant of
Modern Art: The Card Game that uses "master's" artwork. I've got the
artwork in hand and licensed, but am waiting for both my graphic
designer & myself to have free time. After its release we'll probably
allow you to do a cheaper upgrade from Master's Gallery to Modern Art
Card Game, and vice versa, though that may not appear in the initial
release (whether we do this is solely dependent upon getting in-app
purchases to do what we want ...).

The pics of the two games look pretty incredible.  Can't wait.
