Hi,
Kindly share your updated resume if you are good with the JD below. I will be happy to share more information.
Role : TECHNICAL LEAD – EMBEDDED & VEHICLE PLATFORMS
Location: Bay Area, CA, United States Need Local candidates
Contract
1. System Architecture & Leadership
Architect and lead the design of the vehicle compute and networking stack,
ensuring a modular
and scalable interface between higher-level software and diverse hardware
platforms.
Mentor senior engineers and provide technical oversight on complex system-level
challenges,
ranging from Linux kernel tuning to multi-layer networking protocols across OSI
Layers 1-4.
2. Embedded Firmware & Device Drivers
Architect and develop highly reliable embedded firmware for custom hardware
devices designed
by electrical engineering teams.
Develop low-level device implementations and drivers for CAN, LIN, FlexRay, and
Ethernet
interfaces.
Select, implement, and debug real-time operating systems (RTOS) applications.
Develop, debug, and test Ethernet and CAN-based bootloaders.
3. Sensor & Hardware Integration
Lead cross-functional integration efforts for new sensors and embedded devices,
defining
standards for low-latency data interfaces.
Support hardware engineers with PCB bring-up, debugging, and testing.
4. Platform Reliability & Validation
Drive the technical roadmap for hardware health monitoring and fleet-wide
performance
optimization, transforming raw system metrics into actionable insights.
Establish rigorous engineering standards for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing
and automated
performance profiling to guarantee the safety and stability of onboard code.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience: BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer
Engineering,
Electrical Engineering, or a related field. 10+ years of professional software
engineering, including
7+ years in system-level development (hardware bring-up, Linux networking
stacks) and 3+ years
dedicated to embedded firmware engineering.
Programming & System Optimization: Expert-level C/C++ and Python skills.
Proven ability to
design high-performance, thread-safe, and memory-efficient systems, supported
by deep
experience in automated performance profiling.
Operating Systems (Linux & RTOS): Deep expertise in Linux environments
(including kernel
tuning) and hands-on experience with low-level RTOS environments such as
FreeRTOS.
Networking & Communication: Comprehensive knowledge of hardware-software
communication interfaces, spanning low-level (I2C, SPI, CAN, LIN, FlexRay) to mid/high-level
protocols (UDP, TCP, gRPC, RTP, HTTP).
Hardware Integration & Leadership: Basic knowledge of electrical
engineering fundamentals to
support low-level debugging, combined with a demonstrated track record of
leading large-scale,
cross-functional architectural projects between software, hardware, and systems
engineering
teams.
Desirable Qualifications
Advanced Networking & OSI: Mastery of Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN)
protocols (PTP/
gPTP), Ethernet switching architectures, and complex OSI model interactions.
Professional
networking certifications (e.g., CCNA/CCNP) are a strong plus.
Automotive OS & Microprocessors: Experience with automotive-specific RTOS
implementations (QNX, AUTOSAR, OSEK, etc.) and experience porting embedded
operating
systems to new microprocessors.
