All-

I have posted the most recent Rockwood School District boundary map
and listing of Rockwood School District apartments, condos, and
subdivisions for your review.

The key point is that the communities off of Baxter Road fall within
the Rockwood School District. Students living off of Baxter could use
this trail to bike to Marquette High School.

This info should help us broaden our base of support for the project.
It would certainly be worthwhile to contact representatives from the
apartments, condos, and subdivisions off of Baxter Road for future
discussions. It also seems to me that Rockwood School District should
have some interest in promoting the project.

Regards,

Charley Romano

The point that Charley brings up is far reaching. After looking at
FHWA's description of funding sources for pedestrian and bike trails,
there is actually a bigger pot of federal funds to draw from if we can
actually layout trails that serve an actual TRANSPORTATION purpose as
Charley suggests, as opposed to just recreation.

I believe a connector route between Wilson and Baxter could serve
Marquette HS students well and better funding options would exist if
we tie the local high schools (maybe jr. high schools as well) into
the overall plan.
