Hello all,
As promised, I checked into the property ownership between the north
"end" of the sidewalk on the east side of Wilson (Near Wilson Forest)
just south of the hill. I posted a few word documents (wilson hill
adjacent properties A, B & C) that show ownership (sorry if you don't
have MS Word - let me know and I'll figure out a way to jpg them).
Looks like the ownership we would have to cross, based on the route we
discussed at the gathering, goes - Wilson Forest Trust, Baxter
Crossings and Rockwoods School District (from south to north).
Kim and I also researched the maximum recommended grades for bike
paths and it is likely that the best route for a bike path is down one
of the "fingers" that the Wilson Forest trust owns down to the creek
then along the creek to Baxter Crossing Lane. I've posted a schmatic
showing this route (Chesterfield Recreational Trail Phase I.jpg).
Obviously buyoff of the landowners is the hurdle - then funding.
Kim and I have also recently applied for and been awarded funds for a
bridge project in Florissant (on behalf of the City of Florissant)
through what we think may be the best potential source of funding.
The catch is that the funding is allocated for projects that benefit
larger groups of people than this one. Of course being engineers, we
couldn't stop at just a half mile trail anyway and have been having
fun laying out potential trail routes throughout the City of
Chesterfield connecting major attractions like parks and schools. But
before we get too involved I'd like people's feedback on what I've
posted so far.
