First, I'd like to thank the developers for making such a wonderful and complete opensource ss7 stack for the community. I've studied the opensource ss7 landscape and you guys by far seem like best. I hope you guys make are making a ton of money with telestax. :)

Now on to my questions... I'm trying to build an ss7 traffic generator for the sake of simulating traffic in a test lab. I was going to use seagull (http://gull.sourceforge.net/) but the HP sales people can't seem to figure out how to sell HP OpenCall SS7, which seagull depends on for SS7 usage. So instead of seagull, I'm going to try to write a java app using jss7 to simulate seagull's features.

My question for the group is, do you think this is a valid use case for jss7? It seems to be very complete and there is a full API, so I think it is. Does anyone have any advice for how to get started with jss7? Also, I was wondering what the status of M2UA support is in jss7? The diagram on the pages says that it "depends on community." What does that mean? It would be useful for me if I could send IP packets containing MTP3 layered on top of M2UA/SCTP and have a jss7 gateway just push out everything from MTP3 and above onto an SS7 network. Does that make sense?

Lastly, I was wondering if anyone knew of any SS7 traffic generators outside of the utilities that often come with T1 E1 cards. Maybe I'm needlessly reinventing the wheel?

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me.
