Once an XW version of a hardware is available you should naturally expect all hardware you buy from that point out to be XW. It's a hardware refresh, you wouldn't expect to be able to buy a brand new 2014 model car rolled out of the factory fresh in 2017 you would expect it to be a 2017.

Perhaps reading the ticket you might understand a successful test image has been generated and you could followup with the dev team there to get a copy to help ensure they work flawlessly for the next person. Hardly sounds like the hardware is "useless".

With these nightly builds: (no AirOS downgrade required)

You can load the AREDN nanostation xw "factory" firmware directly over AirOs 6.0.4 and below via the AirOS GUI.

You can load the AREDN nanostation xw "factory" firmware directly over any version of AirOS via the TFTP procedure.

If the flash does work properly for some reason, a TFTP load will usually work to recover it. (99% of the time)

However, with nightly builds be prepared to do TFTP and possibly use a serial console (attached to the circuit board) to do a serial recovery. (rare)

FYI: The nightly builds DO NOT WORK for the Bullet and PowerBeam 620 devices yet, IF YOU SKIP THE AIROS DOWNGRADE STEP. We are working on the fixes for those now. If you have a Bullet and PB620 AND want to use nighly, you must downgrade AirOS to 5.x FIRST (as you have been).

since you applied AirOs 6.0.3, that has a "signed" bootloader and will only load Ubiquiti firmware. You need to look on UBNT downloads site and find an "UNSIGNED" firmware (which will load any firmware) and load it. Then, start the AirOs downgrade.

Alternatively, you can load the AREDN nightly build on any version AirOS, as long as you load via the TFTP method.

U-boot is an open-source bootloader, licensed to Ubiquiti under the GNU General Public License. Despite the terms of that license, Ubiquiti refuses to release the corresponding source code for their modified version.

Ubiquiti has distributed firmware on and for their hardware. This table provides sizes and hashes of the u-boot embedded in a subset of their firmwares. These are organized by device type and chronologically within device type, keeping common hashes together.

The hashes were computed by first extracting the u-boot. In general, the hashes will vary from what can be read using dd if=/dev/mtdblock0 because of padding out the 256k partition and trailing garbage. The extraction was made using something like this:

I have a new Nanostation loco M2 build 33033 with AirOS 6.2.0, it does not downgrade like earlier versions.

I have flashed many nanostation for our free wifi project.

Could it be that a new hardware was built like the M5?

i have the same problem. I have downgrade from v6.1.7 to v6.1.3. All older Versions doesn't run and it comes the error code A12. I have tested the flashing with tftp urescue, ssh and webif, but all the same failur.

On the nanostation loco M2 page on the openwrt website it says that before installing the firmware, it is necessary to downgrade to an unsigned version. The indication is to downgrade stepwise to v6.0.6-beta and then to v5.6.15(unsigned). But my device has the v6.3.2 version installed and does not accept to install the beta version. Does anyone have any guidance for me to get out of this problem?

PURPOSE (use): I have 5x data collecting devices connected to an M2 at about 1 mile away from where I am. Where I will be, I'd like to run an M2 and have several tablets connected to it to view the camera image.

CURRENT/WORKING SETUP: The M2s I used to run were 2x XMs. The camera radio was installed with standard factory firmware. The local to me M2 was loaded 5.5 and the OpenWRT local M2. this solution works great. This solution also works if the remote M2 is running any other version up to 6.3.x (tested Jan 2022).

NOW ISSUE: Every M2 I buy now is an XW, with 6.3.x loaded on it. It has been impossible for me to load OpenWRT, no matter how many times I tried or how I did it. In case of a radio problem, I also tried a completely different radio with the same unsuccessful outcome.
