Ifeel Deezer should make Denon/Marantz Heos a priority for HiFi FLAC, as Denon/Marantz AVRs and Processors are very popular. Also, I believe that the folks who own traditional audio components and nice speakers are probably some of the more fervent people when it comes to sound quality, so getting Deezer HiFi FLAC to these systems would be of high interest to these people (self included).
@Rudi out of curiosity, what would you recommend to use to stream deezer hifi on a denon receiver, or any power Amp for that matter? I guess it's a broad question that does not only apply to deezer specifically but streaming services in general. Just wondering If you have any tips
Right now i started my trial period for Deezer in order to leverage to higher bitrate and stream high res to my system. But as its not available through heos Im stuck with the same quality as Spotify, for a 50% higher price and a an far inferior UI (Spotify Connect is really light years a head of anyone else).
Another option might be the new Chromecast version with your phone if your Denon receiver can be connected via Chromecast. Bluetooth does not know the FLAC format, so this would not work and/or not be ideal for lossless FLAC streaming.
I think i can speak for all of us here that nobody cares whats displayed as long as its streaming the FLAC :). I also just checked on the DENON and no firmware update available. But if you guys are 100% certain that it should work, than we can reach out to DENON to get them to update the firmware.
As I am not familiar with the HEOS system, is there a way to find out the amount of transferred megabytes per song maybe? That way you could at least make an educated guess if a song is in MP3 at 320kbps or in FLAC with at least 2-3 times the size (depending on its content).
In my experience, Denon/Marantz AVRs and AVPs with Heos will display the actual streaming format that they are receiving. This is visible within the Heos app, the AVR/AVP image sent to a TV, and by hitting the status button on the AVR/AVP.
I'm sorry if my question seems stupid to you. Tell me, if I run the deezer app on my iPhone with a hi-fi subscription, and send a stream using Airplay to my denon dnp-800ne does this mean that I listen to FLAC? The app displays the "HiFi" label.
@e1n Do you mean the display of the Deezer app on your iPhone or on your Denon network player? As far as I know (not using any Apple devices), AirPlay2 theoretically could at least support lossless streaming, because it knows ALAC which is the Apple equivalent to FLAC unlike Bluetooth which does not know FLAC. I am not sure if the FLAC stream coming from Deezer is converted somewhere to ALAC via Airplay, but available descriptions of Airplay suggest it does this automatically with all input sources - another question for @Rudi and/or involved developers and product managers.
It is true that HiFi users can stream their songs in FLAC format to an AirPlay speaker without loss of quality. iOS converts the decoded audio data to ALAC, which is the Apple equivalent of FLAC, and is a lossless compression format.
About AirPlay 2, it consists mostly of 2 improvements compared to AirPlay:
Hello guys, I am sorry but I need clarification :/ I am trying to assemble my first hifi setup (which is by itself very confusing for me, I had no idea it would be like that :D) and I thought I had finally put together a list of components until I came across this post. My list includes DENON RCD-N10:
And I really love Deezer, now I am on premium subscription but I planed to upgrade to hifi after my setup is complete. So, my question is what are my options for streaming hifi music from my pc and my phone(I am using Samsung S10 if that is relevant) on this receiver? To be precise, what should I do in order to stream hifi records from my phone and pc on this receiver using Deezer, do I need some app, do I need wired connection to my pc etc.? Or should I go with some other receiver maybe? I hope my question is not too stupid and I am really not in music tech so I would really appreciate your help :)
Hi. I tried to stream the same song with Deezer HiFi and Tidal HiFi on my Denon AVR X4500 via HEOS App. The info panel in the HEOS App shows just MP3 320 kbps streaming with Deezer, but when streaming with Tidal it shows FLAC 44.1 kHz / 16 bit.
If you feel you can do some of the rebuilding of your 2270 send me an email and I can give you details on ordering parts and complete kits. Always here to help you along the way.

Bill, there are amplifier alignment adjustments that may fix your problem or give you an idea as to what is wrong. Do you have the service manual for the receiver? If not contact me via email and I can send it to you. Most amplifier alignments only require a multi-meter.
My 2270 will not shut off. I have to unplug it after usage. I took the cover off and sprayed deoxit into the power button shaft I guess you would call it, and manipulated the switch a hundred times or so, no dice. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Happy Holidays!!!
Hi Alex, Happy Holidays! Sounds like you unfortunately have a broken power switch. When you undepress the power button the contacts carrying the AC current pull away from each other. If the switch is broken they will not pull apart and the unit will stay on. There is no harm in using a power surge protector to turn the receiver on and off. I always recommend turning off your source, volume down, and turn off speaker selection before powering down any piece of equipment. There are switches out there from several sources. You can check eBay or shoot me an email and I can give you a few other places. Good luck!
I have a 2240 with an intermittent left chanel . It plays. Ok for a while and then the sound in one channel disapears until the receiver is turned off and on agin. Any suggestions on how i can fix this ?
Hi Steve, it sounds like there is an issue with the phono stage. The 2SC458 transistors on the board are prone to failure alone with the capacitors on the board. With out seeing the unit I cannot diagnose it but failure in the phono preamp is common. Let me know if we can assist you further.
