Recently I've upgraded from a Buffalo WZR-HP-AG300H to a Fritz!Box 4040 and my download speed increased almost 50% on my 400Mbit cable connection, which is great. I've configured my new OpenWrt 18.06.4 setup mostly identical to the old one, but with the Fritz!Box 4040 I do experience a lot of instabilities. The OpenWrt router runs behind a cable router.

I've invested already a lot of time why the new router drops out my internet connection when just watching Youtube videos from LAN. To make it clear I do not experience this issue with WIFI, only on LAN.

So when watching videos e.g. on Youtube via LAN after some time (usually within minutes or less than an hour), my internet drops out completely. I cannot ping the OpenWrt router anymore on 192.168.1.1 or any other server on the internet like 1.1.1.1. From the internet to my OpenWrt router or to machines on my home network a ping is as well not possible anymore. A ping to my other machines on my home network continues to work fine. The only option at this point is to restart the OpenWrt router to get back internet connection (waiting some time or restarting the LAN/WAN interfaces is not enough).

If you're a customer of "Unitymedia" you can check your connection type
after logging in their customer portal, mine is IPv4, which allows me to
operate the "connect box" in bridge mode. (modem only, no routing)
If your connection type is DS-Lite then you surely do double NAT.

I do have a DS-lite connection from Unitymedia with an extremely limited connect box router (firewall is off). I've delegated an IPv6 prefix to my OpenWrt router. This worked fine for years with the Buffalo router. After a lot of testing I still see no root cause why the Fritz!Box 4040 drops internet by just playing some Youtube videos via lan. I've removed now the interfaces for WIFI and EXTERN so there is now just one bridge with lan and the 2 wireless networks (both disabled for now), maybe that reduces the risks of an routing issue of IPv6. At this moment I believe it is not related to IPv4, as my second Fritz!Box doesn't get an IPv6 prefix delegated (PD) and that might be the reason why it seems to work more stable. But might be just coincidence, will run more tests.

Short update. I've tried now an openwrt development snapshort and it dropped as well the internet connection after 40 min playing a music youtube video. Even when testing multiple different configurations I was not able to find any cause for this issue. I assume that this might be a driver issue. But I have no clue how to verify this.

When downloading a bigger file with wget I get these internet drop outs as well. I just had to download in the last days several times an Arch Linux iso image and in many of these downloads the internet and connection to the router stopped completely again.

But when playing the mentioned YouTube video, the Linksys OpenWrt router sadly went down very fast, no difference! The internet connection via a pc connected with a lan cable and IPv6 was broken as before. After doing many tests, I assume YouTube (or googlevideo) must open the socket via IPv6, only then the internet connection will go down.

I do not have to delete the WAN6 interface, it is enough to make sure that the desktop with a lan connection is using "IPv4 only" to avoid this issue. I do see this issue only when IPv6 is enabled or with "IPv6 only", but as I use DS-lite disabling IPv4 is not an option.

With IPSec and the FRITZ!VPN software you can establish VPN connections to the FRITZ!Box on your computer with Windows. This way you can access your FRITZ!Box and all devices in your home network with your computer over a securely encrypted connection, even when you are away from home.

The Configure FRITZ!Box VPN Connection software allows you to set up a VPN connection quickly and easily. All of the security settings are automatically generated by the software and written to configuration files, which then only need to be imported into the VPN remote sites.

Both ends of the VPN connection must have IP addresses in different IP networks. As soon as the computer is connected to a router (for example another FRITZ!Box) that uses the same IP network as your FRITZ!Box, VPN communication is no longer possible.

Modem Combo Units:
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. -do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and =H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Also, since the screenshot you show seems as if you try to configure the intergration manually - did the auto discovery not find the Fritzbox? It should appear automatically in the notifications (after a HA restart).

The solution is to go into the settings of your access point (router) and configure the 5 GHz band to use a fixed channel between 36 and 112. Channels 116 through 128 do not work on the FairPhone 2, or at least not on my specimen. The specifications on the official website do not say anything about which channels/frequencies are supposed to be supported.

If you enable developer mode, you can turn on this option: Settings > Developer options > Enable Wi-Fi Verbose Logging. This adds some ugly looking details to the Wi-Fi menu. If the connection failed because the channel is not supported, you get NETWORK_SELECTION_DISABLED_ASSOCIATION_REJECTION=1 (the number 1 increases every time the connection failed due to this reason).

Have you taken a look at this yet?

Start ipsec Service Support How to start the IPsec Service? The "VPN"-Tab on the Dashboard shows "vpn_disabled" and the "Services"-Tab shows "ipsec (Internet Protocol Security - VPN)" as stopped. So I assume it is not running. But where can I start it? My intention would be to find it somewhere in the "VPN"-Page, but I can't. Or that the services starts automatically after a VPN tunnel was configured. Where can I activate the ipsec-VPN Service (except using the Console...)?

I am wanting to configure our home router with multiple IP subnets so I can have our home devices on the default subnet and all of my test devices on another subnet. What solutions do you recommend in order for me to carry out this task? Our home router is a Fritzbox 7530. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Looking at this page, it is unclear to me what features Fritzbox 7530 has with regard to your question. I'm guessing the 4 LAN ports are simply a mini-switch on a single LAN. -avm-products/fritzbox/vdsladsl/ Opens a new window

-to-configure-vlans-on-cisco-catalyst-switch Opens a new window seems to be a decent starting point. There are several posts right here on Spiceworks Opens a new window that are undoubtedly quite helpful but might require more interpretation.

I know this is an old thread but Fritzbox 7530 CAN support a VLAN (sort of), they just don't call it that and it's not very configurable. It's called Guest network and can be enabled via WiFi and Port 4 iirc, that's how mine is configured with IOT on the guest network in isolation mode. It's not true VLAN but uses VLAN under the hood to achieve it, but will give you two separate subnets with the option to allow or disallow communicating between the two networks or between clients.

Hint: If you want to start and receive calls in the software, refer to the following article instead: https:\/\/knowledgebase.jam-software.de\/7519 \r\nIf you want to use call monitoring with a Fritz!Box, follow these steps: \r\n

    \r\n
  • Make sure that SmartCallMonitor can communicate with the device. On a telephone, which is connected to the Fritz!Box, dial the character string "#96*5*" (without quotation marks). This opens port 1012 on the device and enables applications to read from it. If you want to close the port again, you can use "#96*4*".\r\n
  • Configure the Fritz!Box in the Fritz!Box dashboard. \r\n
      \r\n
    • Enable the setting "Home Network->Home Network Overview->Allow access for applications".\r\n
    • Disable setting "Additionally confirm execution of certain settings and functions" in "System->Fritz!Box-Users->Login".\r\n
    • In the Fritz!Box settings make sure, that in "System->Fritz!Box-Users" the user rights are set correctly for the user that SmartCallMonitor will use to log on to the Fritz!Box. To ensure complete functionality, the following settings must be enabled for the user: \r\n
        \r\n
      • Enable access from the internet\r\n
      • Fritz!Box Settings\r\n
      • Voice Messages, Fax Messages, Fritz!App Fon and Call Log\r\n
      • Smart Home\r\n
      • Start SmartCallMonitor.\r\n
      • Enter the network address of the device in "Tools->Settings->Telephony->AVM Fritz!Box". \r\n
          \r\n
        • Hint: For the most configurations it suffices to enter "fritz.box" in the "Server" field. Otherwise you can find the IP address in the Fritz!Box user interface in "Home Network->Network".\r\n
        • Enter user name and password of a Fritz!Box user profile, that has the user rights mentioned in step 2.\r\n
        • Configure lines in SmartCallMonitor. \r\n
            \r\n
          • Use the button "Configure Lines...". A dialog appears where you can map the phone devices to their outgoing phone numbers.\r\n
          • This mapping must be done exactly as it is configured in the Fritz!Box menu in "Telephony->Telephony Devices".There you will find all the devices with their outgoing phone number. \r\n
          • If there is no outgoing number shown for a device, the Fritz!Box automatically uses the outgoing number for this device, that is configured in the "Telephony->Phone Numbers->Outgoing Number" menu.\r\n
          • Hint: This step only is necessary, if you want to start calls directly from SmartCallMonitor.\r\n
          • If you have configured the lines as described in step 6 and applied the configuration, you can select the default outgoing line in the SmartCallMonitor settings dialog. This line will be selected automatically on each application startup.\r\n
          • On confirming the settings a connection is established with the device." } }] } Configure SmartCallMonitor for Fritz!Box Monitoring Question / Problem How can I configure SmartCallMonitor for my Fritz!Box?
