Another interesting point of Infinite Flight is that it features a global scenery (you will need to pay a subscription for this though, the free version is limited to a few areas). This is interesting if you want to fly in exotic places, or if you want to practice a navigation flight before you fly it in real life (keep in mind that the scenery is streamed from the web, so it does not weigh on your phone storage space). While the scenery is global, the level of detail is not very high, equating roughly to one pixel every 15 metres in the real world. This means that VFR navigation can be simulated only to a certain degree, with some UK Visual Reporting Points for instance not clearly visible.

For a trial, I decided to fly the C172 out of Shoreham. The cockpit layout is very accurate, and you can also find a brand new glass cockpit version of the aircraft (look for the Embry Riddle livery), besides the more classic analogue version. I configure the aeroplane for my flight very light, so on takeoff I rotate at 55kt and climb out at 75kt, getting a rate of climb of almost 1,000fpm in ISA conditions. The feeling of the aircraft is quite realistic, and there is a fairly strong, somewhat gusty wind that requires a few corrections here and there.

Levelling out at 3,000ft, I set the aircraft up for some stalls. With power off and the aircraft clean the stall warning activates at 52kt, with the actual stall quite benign. I then repeat the process, this time lowering flaps in stages, and with full flap the stall warning activates at 45kt.

Before heading back to Shoreham, I practice a few steep turns, which again show quite a high degree of realism in terms of the relationship between power, speed and angle of bank, and I need to maintain a certain degree of concentration to fly accurately. I then set myself up for an instrument approach into Shoreham. The cockpit is animated (meaning that the instruments give actual indications), but it is not interactive. That is, in order to set up an NDB-DME approach you need to use the drop-down menu and you do not manipulate directly the cockpit instruments, a minor nuisance but one to keep in mind if cockpit familiarisation is very important to you.

Overall, though, Infinite Flight is a pleasant and fun simulator, especially for the variety of aircraft at your disposal. You can break the sound barrier with the Tomcat and then go on a rather surprising ballistic climb, or you can try to fly an airshow with Spitfire, or yet again you can fly a steep approach into a Swiss airport. The possibility of adventure and experimentation, with so many aeroplanes and a global scenery, is vast. And if training is what you are after, this sim can still serve you well. The possibility to fly with other aircraft around you, being guided by Air Traffic Control, makes the whole experience very realistic in terms of workload management. Indeed, as I discovered, flying circuits at a busy field may well help you polish off that rust that we are all accumulating. And, as we look forward to emerging from this Covid age, that may be time well spent. EF

Infinite flight is a very, very small flight sim with a very, very small playerbase. Therefor, it isnt that big of a flight sim. This meaning it does not have the rush and sheer demand to become the behomth of what MFS2020 is.

Infinite flight LTD, is also kind of small. They dont have that many developers, and because of this, it is hardwr to push out updates. Please realize that the developers and infinite flight team are working beyond hard to deliver sufficiently. We just need to give them time.

Microsoft Flight Sim 2020. Microsoft is worth billions of dollars. Therefor, MFS2020 has the cabability to dominate the market with such sufficient funding. Not to mention MFS2020 has a huge amount of developers.

MFS attracts mostly the top hirarchy flight simmers. For example the people that fly on Xplane11 (such as mua) and so on becuase they are used to the adavanced mechanics and physics, also because they realize that their sims are getting slightly outdated and it is time for a new and advanced platform.

Infinite flight was outdated, but since it is an application, it is easier to modify and uldate unlike flight sims like X-Plane wich require days to months to change some code, plus hours of updating.

This is a really tricky one because if the fact that X plane does not have satellite imagery but has 3d cities and buildings. On the other hand, IF has satellite imagery but it is quite blurry and hard to see. But for the airports, X plane is the clear winner. Its runways are very detailed and just the textures are also just right. So looks like xplane won the scenery aspect.

Next we have aircraft.
IF does have a much much greater aircraft selection that xplane, but it is also true that most of the xplane planes compared to the IF are much higher in quality. Here is an example of the a330 in both sims:

Next we have systems.
For this there definitely is a clear winner and it is xplane because of just the extremely detailed aircraft and interactive cockpit. The new a330 mcdu is also fully functional which is just crazy.

For this topic, I know many people will disagree with me but X plane has been known for the best physics in flight simulator. This also though depends on what aircraft you use as well, because for example, the a320 in xplane has bad physics , but so does the a340 as well. But I do think that xplane gets the win for this because of the flight model function and the newer better aircraft.

This is also just a clear winner, IF. This kinda adds on to the community aspect as well because if the application to become an ATC member. Xplane ATC is really bad, because nobody knows how to use it and all you get is people spamming messages at you.

Overall, I think Infinite is better than XPlane Mobile by a long shot. That has not been updated in years to correct or add anything. Yet Infinite continues to push the boundaries of what is possible on a mobile simulator while improving textures and adding liveries, airports, and aircraft.

I never knew X Plane mobile added the A330 but when I looked at it it was very well made with a custom and authentic A330 sound. Weather is also good in X Plane but in IF the fact that there is so much aircraft to offer and ATC etc just makes it better

Hello, when i go in game, when i tilt my phone left or right, nothing happens. I go to settings, controls and i click show devices, it says 2 joysticks, accelerometer 2 axes, network controler. Please help i want ro play my favorite flight simulator

I have been playing Infinite Flight for about 4 months. I only get to have one long flight in the evening. Despite learning how to play properly (use ATC properly and abide by rules) I am still on grade 2. I bought this game with the intention of a very real simulator but being stuck on grade 2 I can only fly on the training server which is not realistic at all due to poor ATC controllers. Is it possible to get onto the expert server without being grade 3?

For example, a real pilot might not be able to get onto the expert server. This is not because of his/her experience but because of how much time he/she has. On the other hand, a teenager with lots of time could more easily get onto the expert server without knowing what they are doing?

Other people with grade 3-5 can find time to make it to expert. Grade 3 has been proven to be a good middle ground for expert access. Even moderators have to work to maintain their activity level to stay at or above grade 3. This means that when you see a grade 5 pilot they have put in the dedication.

This brings forward another issue. People that have spare time but do not follow rules can progress easier people with experience and no time. I believe that maybe there should be a mandatory test to prove that you know how to fly and not prove that you just have time. This is just my own opinion.

People who are serious can only make it through expert. ATC is very good at spotting those who sneak in and I keep a look out too. On expert I have had only a handful of incidents with people of questionable ability.

This comes down to you and you wanting expert access, I get it. Outside of the xp and flight time requirements, landing counts can easily be maintained with a little bit of preparation and small amount of dedication. If people arent willing to put in that effort to get the to expert, should they even be there, regardless of what type of pilot they are?

I am warning the thread now that these sort of posts end up going in circles very quickly and usually get flagged at some point and end up closed. I know you are somewhat new to the forum but again everyhing you and others have brought up has been discussed before.

Basically, would you reccomend I buy the game? I refunded it as soon as I bought the game to do more research into it, and I do want a nice flight simulator (other than MS Flight Simulator X) and it working on my phone is a perk. I have a OnePlus 3T, so it runs the game nice and smooth.

The game is definitely fun without a pro subscription, as you get access to something like 15 planes and multiple regions. While yes, it is not as immersive and enjoyable as having a pro sub, you can fly flights and experiment at the low cost of $5 (USD). And no this is not biased just because this is the Infinite Flight Community, this is my honest opinion.

With a wide variety of choices to make between the vast amount of aircraft in the Infinite Flight fleet. You can pick anything from Commercial Jets, to Military or why not take a Cessna for a stroll :)

If you are only in for Commercial Airlines, just like me ?
Then you have a choice that far exceeds any other in the sim: Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier and Embraer at your service with a large amount of liveries to choose from. And with the World in your hand, you may take your flight anywhere.

In my opinion it is worth it, not only what people mentioned above but you can play multiplayer with a lot of people (which other flight simulators only accept 2 for the case of XP Mobile) and plus, the Staff Team provides to all Subscribers updates on new aircraft every 6 months or so (standard time to rework or start a plane from scratch) which other flight simulators like AeroFly FS2 have only had one update in the last 1/2 years.
