Greetings!
I wanted to let you know about some internships (both paid and unpaid) that Grand Aspirations is offering to help launch the Our Power campaign. If you are interested - please apply ASAP! Please pass this opportunity on to other young people who would be interested.
These internships are specifically designed for young people (high
school, college, and non-college youth) with strong connections to some
part of South Minneapolis. We strongly applicants of all cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Connections to South Minneapolis, concern for communities in the area, and interest in engaging people to save energy costs and improve the community are more important than previous energy or environmental work.
A description of the positions available and instructions for
how to apply are attached first. The priority deadline for applications
is December 20th, though applications will be accepted on a rolling basis after that until filled. The job description (and this email) briefly explains the Our Power campaign. If you want to know more about the project, check out the concept paper attached second.
Our Power is a new campaign emerging out of over a year of work by youth organizers and c
ommunity groups focused on improving energy efficiency and clean energy access in South Minneapolis related to concerns around the proposed Hiawatha Transmission line project. Our Power is a community-wide campaign that unites residents, businesses, organizations, and elected officials representing the many perspective and backgrounds of South Minneapolis. Our Power combines community education with direct support for community members to implement accessible and effective energy improvements and a peer-engagement approach to help their friends and neighbors do the same. Our Power focuses on increasing power reliability and creating energy democracy while offering the community economic opportunities to save money on energy bills, generate income through energy production, and create jobs by improving neighborhood energy infrastructure.
