National Wildlife Federation’s Campus Ecology program is now accepting
applications for individuals and/or groups wishing to get $1,000 to
support your efforts with the Power Vote campaign, as well as post-
election follow-up and Power Shift recruitment. This means you could
apply as an individual, team or group and distribute the funds as you
see fit. The priority deadline for applying is this Friday, October 8
at 5pm.

Power Vote Organizing Fellowship Application
Power Vote Organizing Fellowship (October 2010 - April 2011)
Power Vote Organizing Fellows will work with college and university
students to bring cleaner energy and sustainability solutions to the
forefront in the 2010 elections. Each Fellow will work with National
Wildlife Federation’s (NWF) Campus Ecology team to support students on
1-3 campuses in organizing local events to highlight clean energy
solutions, organizing meetings with elected officials, generating
student government resolutions, organizing skills trainings and
workshops, generating media, and collecting pledges from students that
call on our elected officials to take bold, comprehensive and
principled action to protect our health, restore our environment,
improve our economy, and prevent future dirty energy disasters.
Organizing Fellows receive ongoing, personalized mentorship & support
from the NWF team. We will help you uncover and develop organizing
skills like personal short-term and long-term work-planning,
relationship-building, volunteer recruitment, message development and
delivery, and strategic campaign planning.
Fellowship stipend is for $1,000.00.
Requirements
- Commitment to high-level involvement with the Power Vote campaign
through November 2010;
- Commitment to Power Shift conference preparation and recruitment
through April 2011;
- Interest in environmental justice and energy issues;
- At least 1 semester experience with campus organizing;
- Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students or recently
graduated alums preferred.
Deliverables
- 2-3 page report at the end of your fellowship
- Include 5 action photos and any media hits you receive
- All Power Vote pledges data-based and provided to the regional
campus field coordinator
Fellows will be expected to work on or near designated campuses. Ideal
locations for fellows are in the Midwest (Michigan, Minnesota, Indiana
and Illinois), Southeast (Florida, Georgia, North Carolina) and
