Bemidji State University faculty member Anton Treuer will be the keynoter at NAPE’s annual professional development conference in April, 2015

Keynote by Anton Treuer, PhD

NAPE Professional Development Institute

April 21-23, 2015

We are pleased to announce that Anton Treuer, PhD, will present the keynote address over lunch on Thursday, April 23, 2015.  

 

Dr. Treuer is the Executive Director of the American Indian Resource Center at Bemidji State University and author of 13 books. He holds a BA from Princeton University and a MA and PhD from the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Treuer will present a workshop on Thursday morning and will hold a book-signing for copies of "Everything You Wanted to Know About Indians But Were Afraid to Ask, Ojibwe in Minnesota". 

 

 

Submit workshop proposals NOW! Deadline Dec.15, 2014. 

 

We want to make the PDI informative and interesting for our valued members. Send us your proposals to present on these topics:

  • Public and Private Partnerships to Advance Access, Equity, and Diversity in Education and the Workforce
  • New Research on Advancing Underrepresented Students in the K-20 Education Pipeline, Especially in STEM and/or in CTE
  • Effective Practices, Programs, or Policies to Address Student Achievement and Outcome Gaps
  • Strategies for Increasing Access, Retention, and Transition of Special Population Students in Education and Employment-College AND Career Readiness

Proposals should be drafted to address the following audiences: 

  • School Counselors and Student Support Services Personnel
  • CTE and STEM Faculty, Teachers, Administrators, and Researchers
  • State and Local Special Populations, Nontraditional, and Equity Coordinators
  • Workforce Development and TANF Staff/Community-Based Organization Staff
  • Policy/Think Tank Advocates and Educational Equity Researchers
  • Professional Development and Resource Project Staff

Award Nominations Deadline is January 15, 2015.

 

Do you know an equity rock star? Someone who has tirelessly worked to increase student access, educational equity, or workforce diversity?

Nominate them for a NAPE award, presented at the PDI. We honor our rock stars with the Diversity in Technology, Unsung Hero, Rising Star, and Teamwork awards. The nomination period ends Jan.15, 2015.
