Now that it has been one week for those who did PBP, what do you
think? Do you want to do it again? I am still a bit numb in my
fingers and toes, and have not been on a bike yet!

Well, I'll chime in. I'm going for my first post-PBP ride tonight even though I still have a little bit of numbness in one finger. I went to Paris thinking PBP was something I needed to do because thats what randonneurs do. I finished the ride with a whole different attitude. I loved almost every minute of the ride and can't wait for another chance to ride it again.

I haven't been on the bike since returning home on Monday. In fact,
the bike is still in the bike box! I will take my road bike for a
spin this weekend, and put the Rivendell back together at some
point.

I think I have some post tramatic stress syndrome because I dream of
the ride every night, and I have some anxiety about making time
cutoffs at the next control everytime I wake up! I still have numbness
in my toes and some slight knee pain, but I feel that I'm recovering.

At first I assumed that I would be a "one and done" PBP'er, but after
a week I'm thinking of things that I could try or do differently the
next time. Four years is still a long way out, but I may be back
again in 2015 - we'll see. There are other things on the bucket list
that may take precedence, but I'm not ruling it out.

Congratulations to all that took on this endeavor - it was monumental
just to make it to the start line.

I have not even seen my bike yet.  I'll be riding on Monday or Tuesday when I get back to town... assuming the bike comes with me from Zurich.
three fingers still numb, I have never had that before, only a few hours at the most.  My legs feel just fine.

I would absolutely do it again! It was not an inexpensive event.
Mostly due to airfare and the exchange rate. The crowds were so
supportive. Got to be a rock star! I was worried about the start, no
problem. I did not have any problems with the controls and appreciated
the food variety. I'd carry less stuff. Might utilize a second drop
bag location. Had some minor toe numbness after. Bad reflux the last
200km. Would use an acid reducer next time. The bike was very dirty
with a black dusty greasy film. Once I got home I changed a shift
cable and tightened brooks saddle tension. Have ridden a couple time
since. Looking forward to the AV 600km next weekend.

My bike got here this afternoon, only 2 days behind me.  And I think the TSA has my headlights. I was sure I packed my light and a spare, and they are not here at home.  They go into my carry-on if I do this again.
I rode to the bank and grocery store yesterday.
wonder how Jonas' ride is going? It was getting hot when I left on Saturday.

Hey,

Glad your bike made it finally. Too bad about the lights. They lost your nice schmidt light at tsa!!! Unbelievable, hopefully u can get them back. Hope u got some time to ride in ch or Germany. I had a nice ride down from Paris to melon and fountainebleau, and to auxerre, Dijon and Bourgogne and train to Lyon where I spent 3 days. Justu flew back to Sweden last night and thought I would loose my bike as well as only had 45 mins in Copenhagen, but got everything immediately so that was lucky. Ended up buying a bike bag, and that worked great. Better than a cardboard box really, just a little less protected, but I shoved lots of stuff in bag anyhow so seemed to work swell. Hope u had a great time in ch and friedrichshafen and a good trip back. Thanks for arranging the hotel I paris. That sure worked out nicely.

Will take out my old steed and check if the old sun tour still shifts tomorrow. Auperbelyi comfy ride so will be fun. Was off the bike for 3 days pin Lyon so feel ready now.

Cheers,

Jonas

Steve,

I will try again in four years. I will bring mustard and kaopectate. I think the best food I had in France was the Italian restaurant Saturday night.

I felt like Superman after PBP. For a few nights I had dreams about riding in PBP or argueing with the French about condiments. Or that might have been during the ride, its hard to tell. Some numbness in the extremities and gout in my big toe. Since I have been back I attempted a solo 300k and DNF for mechanical reasons. That's a first for me. I have a very hilly 200k this weekend I hope goes better. Thanks for your support.
