Andy – Sorry you couldn’t make it. I hope Owen is doing better. There ended up being 4 of us who braved the snow and cold.

I’ll throw 2 of mine out there. I’m horribly inexperienced at shooting in snow – I need to get a couple of ND filters. I’m anxious to see what the other 3 folks got.

1st shot is the obligatory falls shot – I got there a little earlier and was trying to do something artsy. My Photoshop wasn’t available this morning – so this is the unfinished work.

2nd Shot is the standard MN Photo Group breaking the rules picture.

Nice shots.

Andy, I how the kids feeling better. Sorry to here about that.

I have a couple that ready for posting. I converted the last 2 to B&W.
There really isn't
much difference in the viewing. It just cleans them up a little.
Here they are.

Really nice, Pat. I like the first one a lot. It's got some nice
colors. You could really give it some punch with some processing.

These are great, Dave! The fresh snowfall really made for some great
black and whites. And I like the colors in the first one.

We're home from the hospital now (11 hours later!) and all is well,
thanks. We're hoping a formula switch will agree with his system a
little better.

I've got to get out and get some shots of this fluffy snow!

Those look really great, Dave. IMG_0890 in particular is nice because
you get a real sense of space and size with the people in the shot. My
view of the ice changes considerably without them there.

Nice shots guys. Sorry I couldn't stay a little longer, but Jacque had
just gotten off work, and we don't see much of each other on those
days....

Nice shots guys. Patrick, did you add some color in post to that first
shot? I don't recall any of the pinkish light this morning...

I started with the Pano taken from the balcony. About 5 shots (I forget
now, there were 7, but I didn't use all) stitched in elements. I think
I'm going to get a big print of this, it looks pretty good in the full
size version. I can't get the uploads to work right (I need to change
my email address...) but here be a link

I'll have more up as the evening wears on.

The pink lighting was the arc light that highlights the Falls at
night...I'm going to bump the Mrs off the big computer tonight so I can
get onto PhotoShop and play with the rest of my stuff.

Great Pano by the way -- I was wondering what you were doing up on the
overlook for so long! :)

Gotcha. I think there was enough ambient light by the time I got there
that you couldn't see the arc lights in the snow.

Thanks on the Pano. I think I'm going to get a 10x20 from whcc. Maybe
on metallic paper. I'll have more pics from the outing later. Jacque
and I ended up going to breakfast and then she wanted to go look at
bridesmaids' dresses. As usual, I was the only guy at David's bridal,
and as usual, I ended up there wearing my grubbies. Oh well.

Very nice images, Dave. I especially like the third one...but all are
fine photos. Looks like the group had a good photo session.

A little USM here, a dab of saturation there, and presto - I feel a lot better about my photos.

#1 I ended up not cropping. I like the light streaming in from the top left.
#2 I'm printing up for a frame in my office. I've never shot moving water before, and I really like the look. I've got to get out there with a better tripod, and an ND filter to shoot some more of this subject!

Thanks for the other three for "talking shop" while we were out there - I learned new techniques and shooting styles. Also seeing the results on here makes me want to get out again.

Good outing everyone! (All 4 of us). :)

Good shots Justin. It seems like where I was focusing more on the
water.
You took your time, looked around, and got some very interesting (good)
shots.
Minnehaha's a tough place for me. I've been there so many times, that I
just
keep taking the same shots over and over. I think your gallery will
help me
change that.
dave.

Good shots Pat.
The one from up top with the light shinning on it looks good.
I didn't take any shots as closeup as you did with the rocks, I will
next time.
Good meeting you.
dave.

Pat, I definitely like the wider version of the first pic best. And
that second one is superb!

Thanks Dave,

Actually, thes are just my stock Minnehaha shots in a different season
:-) I need to play with them a tad. I did some brightening, contrast,
and USM, but I think some could use a little more punch. OTOH, it
wasn't a real punchy scene to begin with I suppose...

Nice Shots Pat!

I especially like the second one with the stones, snow, and water. It
just really says winter in Minneota to me. Does a great job of
capturing the feel of the wilderness
