3d Camera?

OK, this is a total long shot. My fiancee read in a bridal magazine
about a couple borrowing a "3D" camera for some wedding shots. Now she
wants to do the same (and I want her to stop reading these bridal
magazines because they have too many "good" ideas). She can't really
describe what they were talking about, except that it sounds to me like
holographic stuff, and it isn't stereoscopy. Does anybody have a sense
of what kind of equipment it is I would be looking for and where I
might look for it? My gut feeling is that this would be prohibatively
expensive (the magazine wedding was in CA and they borrowed it from a
friend. I'm guessing it came from a studio).

Any help is much apprecaited.

Oh...I remember the bridal magazine days!

Isn't there some software that would convert a photo to 3-D?

Maybe, I dunno. I found a reference on the web to a disposable that you
would send back for processing, but the page hadn't been updated since
2001, and It mentioned he hadn't seen one in years...
