On the old forum, Greg (who's now a member here) suggested trying
whcc.com for printing. They happen to be in South St. Paul, which makes
for very fast shipping. They're a pro lab, but have no problem
processing my non-pro stuff.

I've got to say, I've been using them for a couple months now, and I'm
very impressed. Once you get the ordering workflow figured out and
their file specifications down, it's a breeze. And they are quick!
Every time I order before noon, I have the prints at my door the next
day. All free shipping.

My wife has recently started digital scrapbooking. She has 12x12"
prints done for 3.60/ea and they come out beautiful.

I'm not affiliated with them in any way, but I just wanted to mention
them in case anyone is looking for a good place to print photos. And
thanks to Greg for mentioning them to me a while back.

Whcc. is amazing. I send all my printing there now. I think their
interface is kind of clunky, and they do seem to have alot of rules for
file size and such, but man, it is totally worth it. And if I get them
ordered by noon, they show up at my office by 9 the next day.

I would like to put in a good word for Mpix.com. I have been using
them for about a year and have been very happy with them..... a very
good interface with many options, especially in sizes and papers. I
had an experience with them about a month ago that I should relate. I
had done some "senior picture" shots and had several sizes shipped to
me. The 8x10 came creased by the usps...not their fault at all
(packaging is very good). I emailed them and recieved a reply in about
5 minutes saying they would replace it...just send them the file name.
They not only replaced it, but shipped it Fed Ex overnight....I had it
the next afternoon. I have had them print a couple 20x30 prints that
came out very well, too. You can disable any color correction so
common on many sites. I am no proffesional, but have been very happy
with them. They do charge shipping, but prices seem pretty good to me.

I agree about mpix. I have used them once or twice as well. Prices are
right about the same (maybe a little higher than whcc on some sizes),
but great quality. The free shipping is what got me started on whcc.
They do, however, have a $12 minimum order, which usually isn't a
problem for us.

The only time the min order is a problem for me is when I need 4x6s in
a hurry. Usually, I just throw 4x6s in a folder and when I hit 50 (12
dollars worth) I order. If I need smaller quantities and don't want to
wait, I tend to send them to costco (and have them mailed directly to
whoever wanted them)

4x6s are a different story for me. WHCC is a bit high for me to order
casual snapshots in 4x6. For those, I tend to just go to Target or
something. For a wedding I did recently, I had 4 sets of 252 proofs
done in 4x6. I used winkflash, which was .12/ea.

If you get the proofing output, they are 24 cents, which I guess is
double what winkflash is, but only 7 or 8 cents more than I pay at
target/costco. I don't have a ton of wall space at my pad, so I do like
to get 4x6s from time to time

The popular online printing establishements seem to be WHCC,
printroom.com, mpix and Winkflash. I personally use Costco for almost
all of my digital photo printing, I think the quality is good and the
price is too. The other nice thing is I can upload my pictures and pick
them up in less than 24 hours which is great for fast turnaround jobs
considereing that I'm also pleased with the quality. I've always used
Dale Photo in Florida for my 35mm processing and they are vastly
superior to most of the other film processing I've seen. Their digital
processing is ok, but nothing I've been super impressed with.

I just wish a had a big house. Mine is quite tiny...you know how the
housing prices are in the Cities and it's my first! I'd love a couple
large walls that I could dedicate to hanging photos. Someday, though...

I have a pretty decent sized 3 bedroom apartment, but still, wall space
is kind of at a premium, except in the guest bedroom which I don't use
much because that is where the catbox lives.
