50 miles with some gravel (doesn't sound like there will be a whole
lot but hey...). I am going to ride it to get base miles up, do some
group riding and hit gravel without needing to do any route
planning...just follow the guys.

I'll be there as well. I've never ridden with the CRC folks, anyone
know what "moderate" means to them?

I'm planning on going, but I have a knee injury and am waiting to see how that feels. I've never been on a Slick 50, but have heard many a tale, moderate for these guys means fast by many people's standards...Hurl has won the Almanzo a couple of times if that gives you any indication...but he has told me the ride is meant to be fun. Expect beer stops.

I spent some extended time with Hurl yesterday due to much needed bike
maintenance...couple of things about the ride he shared with me: less
than 1 mile of gravel this year, he thinks the group will be riding at
18mph (so much for moderate) and probably some not so nice weather.
One beer stop (for sure).

Since 18 MPH is not so moderate for me, if anyone would be interested in getting together for riding some gravel in the next few weeks let me know. I may and actually try and see how the trail along the river and 494 looks tonight if I take the 494 bike path home.

evenin' Gents,

18mph would probably be on the high end. I have no idea who, nor how
many, will show up. Be that as it may, the pace will certainly
fluctuate. It's no time trial drag race, but it probably won't be no
Sunday-go-to-meetin' cruise, neither. Regardless, all are welcome.
Mudguards recommended. Oh, and I've only won the Almanzo once, the
first year, back when there were like 17 riders, not 435.

cheers,
-Hurl

Remember one must "fit" them properly, no "installation" allowed. ;)
