I'm planning on water refills in my drop bag for the Almanzo 100.  Is
this necessary, or has anyone heard from Chris that there are drinking
water refills available on or near the course?

I'm planning to include water refills in my drop bag. I haven't seen
anything official from Chris regarding water, but it appeared to me
from previous posts that we should not plan on water refills near the
course.

Chris actually responded to an email I sent him about this.

"You will be able to find water in Preston (mile 42). There is a
grocery store about four blocks into the city on the left. Beyond
that, there isn't much out there but rocks and hills and wind."

I was going to say the same thing - the checkpoint/bag drop is at mile
62, so that'll be the last chance for a water refill. I'm planning to
use a camelback, but i'll probably have a small backup bottle of water
in the bag anyway. I don't know what else i'll have in there though,
maybe some food, that's about it. Depending on the weather during the
day, it will be nice to have the option of dropping some clothes
there.
