hi everyone,

i'd be really interested in monthly bike camping trips following
gravel routes. anyone else interested? great way to test equipment and
set ups. i'm thinking early saturday - late sunday type of trip.
approximately 120 miles both ways.

is there a resource for gravel routes? or even better, gravel routes
to state parks?

I'm definitely interested. I don't know a good resource for gravel
road finding other than scanning the online maps, maybe Jim will chime
in on how he finds his gravel routes? When are you thinking of
starting? The weekend of 8/14 would be the next best time for me, if
we're trying to schedule ahead.

August 14th would work for me.

Yeah, Jim knows all. Hey Jim how did you route our ride to Almanzo?

Sean where are you riding to this weekend?

I just use gmaps pedometer to plot routes. The thin little gray roads
tend to be gravel.

found out I have to leave for Hong Kong on the 19th, but if things
aren't too hectic and I think I can pull off a bike camping trip, this
is what I'm thinking:

leaving at 5:30 a.m from Hard Times to St. Croix State Park Saturday
August 14th. Riding Gateway to Gandy Dancer to St. Croix State Park. I
think it's 120 some miles. Coming home Sunday different route about
110 miles.

Interesting Patrick.

While I know I could do that distance loaded for camping I also know I would be significantly slower than you. And I may already have a camping trip that weekend so I'll have to double check when I get home.

I'm out for camping this weekend after all, ironically i'm going to
spend Saturday doing a brake job on my car. I'll watch for other
possibly camping weekends later this summer.
