hi,

I just downloaded the latest mnemosyne destop version and as well the android client.
Now I tried to sync my database with the android device. I set up the version on my laptop as server. and then inserted the server, port and password information into the android client.
loggin in seems to work as I have now a database with the same name on my android device as is on my laptop. But it has no content as the mnemosyne app on my phone always says: "could not connect to server"
What am I doing wrong. The mnemosyne version on the laptop is running an connected to the internet while I try to sync.

Hi,

Perhaps there is a firewall in between them which block this traffic? It's always best to try this with machines on the same network first.

there are both connected via wireless to my home network. I use the windows fire wall and allowed mnemosyne to communicate through the fire wall.
Still the same "could not connect to server" message.

Can you try with the firewall turned off? Also make sure you have the latest Mnemosyne desktop version...

I just installed 2.3.1 yesterday. Firewall is turned off. Still the same problem.

This could be tricky to debug, since I don't have access to your network...

Can you try syncing to your laptop from a different laptop inside the same home network? That would help us determine if it's an Android-specific networking issue.

Also try with an empty username and password on both the server and the client, and double check the port number.

Cheers,

Peter

hi peter,

today I changed passwords and the initial sync with an epmty default database seemed to work and it said sync succesful.
Then I created one card and tried to sync this one but now it says "sync failed, restoring from backup. next sync will need to be a full sync" on my server pc and after clicking ok it says "sync cycle detected. sync through intermediate partner" on my android device. Any suggestions.
Anyway it is possible to sync another database than the "default" one?

I would turn off all passwords (I will check if this is a bug), completely delete your Mnemosyne folder on your phone's SD card, and sync again.

I'm also assuming you have a good stable wifi connection.

At the moment, only default.db can be synced.

Glad that it works now!

Just for the record, can you check if it works with a password now?
I've been trying to reproduce this, but without success..

Thanks!

Peter
