However, after installing the new version, no cards appear when I start the app on my Nexus 7. I am able to successfully sync with the desktop app (according to the message the desktop app shows after the sync is completed), but the Android app shows "Sch.: 0 Not mem.: 0 Act.: 0", indicating that the app hasn't loaded the db synced with the desktop app. Hopefully this will be fixed eventually b

I installed the Android app v1.3.1 on a Nexus 7 running Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow).  I also updated the Windows app to 2.4.1.   I am able to successfully sync the Android app with the desktop app, but the Android app shows "Sch.: 0 Not mem.: 0 Act.: 0", indicating that the app hasn't loaded the db synced with the desktop app.

I tried deleting the Mnemosyne folder on Android device (at \storage\emulated\0\Mnemosyne).  Syncing the device then restored the folder with several filess and folders inside.  However, after then launching Mnemosyne, no cards appear, and the display still shows "Sch.: 0 Not mem.: 0 Act.: 0".

Thanks for any help!

Hi,

You’re not using any saved card sets (from “(De)activate cards”) by any chance?

Can you privately send me the contents of your \storage\emulated\0\Mnemosyne directory?

Cheers,

Peter

Hello peter,I'm having this same problem with my android phone and laptop. The first time i tried to sync it seemed to be working. It was counting through my cards but when finished there was nothing there.
I tried it a second time with the same result but in addition my cards had dissapeared from my laptop version.
Luckily i had a backup to restore with.I dont have any saved cardsets.
I tryed reinstalling the app on both my pc and phone but with the same results.
Would really appreciate any help you might give

Hi,

Make sure you are using the latest version on both your desktop and your phone. Also check that your desktop database is called 'default.db'

Cheers,

Peter

You’re probably looking at a backup file which you loaded manually. In the desktop app, do ‘file – open’ and make sure you load default.db.

OK.loaded default.db.At what stage can I add my db file with the saved cards.should I sync from mobile app first?

On the desktop, make sure all the cards you want to use are in default.db. On the phone, delete /sdcard/Mnemosyne so that you can start with a clean slate and then sync again.

Hello John

It worked.thanks do much for all the help.
But I find I have a new problem. After a fresh install of windows, mnemosyne won't play my cards audio files. Is there an easier way than reattaching each audio file manually to its respective card

Hi,

If you create a new card and add audio through right-clicking on the editor, does sound work?

If that works, verify that your sound files are in the correct place.

For a database called default.db, your media should be in the folder defauld.db_media.

Hello Peter,

Sorry I got you name wrong,I was a bit distracted.
So, I created a new card with audio and it worked fine.
From my previous windows installation I kept my audio files in a folder on the desktop. The cards still contain the links to those files like so
<audio src="20_30.mp3">
I tried moving that folder to the default.db_media folder but no luck.
Also whenever I try to use the app,as soon as I press the "show answer" key it crashes

Hello Peter.

I have attached here a log of the app crash

Hi,

If your card contains <audio src="20_30.mp3">, then 20_30.mp3 needs to be directly in default.db_media, not inside a folder in that directory.

With respect to the Android crash for missing media, are you running the latest 1.6 version?

Cheers,

Peter

Hello Peter,

Putting all my audio files into "default.db_media "without folders is problematic.you see,The files in my audio folder are further broken down into 52 other folders (each representing a lesson from my japanese text book)

All these audio files are named numerically.so..I have 52 files named 1..52 files named 2, etc and so on,All in separate folders.

Obviously windows does not like having files with the same name in the same location.

So while placing files only from lesson one into "Default.db_media" works fine. As soon as i place files from other lessons in there windows prompts me to change the names of those files (e.g.  1 becomes 1(2) ) which in turn breaks their connection to Mnemosyne

and they wont play.

with regards to the app i uninstalled it and deleted all folders, restarted my phone,Reinstalled ( version 1.6) and had the same problem.

As soon as i press "show answer" it crashes.i'm sure i sent you a crash report with my last email.

But then you should have had that problem earlier too, right? In your previous setup, how did you deal with this? What were the links in your cards for different chapters and where we they located?

Cheers,

Peter

Actually i never had that problem before.I kept all my files on the desktop and whenever i added an audio file to a card

I'd hit CTR+S and navigate to my desktop folder.

Heres two example  of my cards audio links

<audio src="4_3_.mp3">

<audio src="2.mp3">

I just realized I've been using the same version of mnemosyne for the last 4-5 years.

I only got the latest version last week when i reinstalled windows.

Could there be a compatibility issue with my old version saves and the new version?

I also figured out that the app was crashing because of these defunct audio file links.

I deleted a few of them,re-synced and it worked fine.

I also created a few new cards with audio and they worked too.

I have over 1600 audio files and its looks like i may have to manually correct them one by one

I would really appreciate it if you could suggest an easier way of doing this

Hi,

If you control-S to <desktop>/lesson1/1.mp3, Mnemosyne will copy 1.mp3 to default.db_media and insert <audio src="1.mp3">. It will then always use its own copy, so that it will still work, even if you delete the original file.

If you now control-S to <desktop>/lesson2/1.mp3, Mnemosyne will try to copy 1.mp3 to default.db_media, notice that there’s already an 1.mp3 there, and will rename the new file to 1_1_.mp3. It will insert <audio src="1_1_.mp3"> in your cards.

So, when you were upgrading your computer, rather than just copying <Mnemosyne_data_dir>/default.db, you should have copied the whole <Mnemosyne_data_dir>, which includes default.db_media with all the correctly named sound files.
