Hi,

I'm experimenting with using flashcards on Mnemosyne to supplement literacy programs in Haitian schools. Since the focus is on reading and writing it would be nice if students were required to enter text in a field in the question section and then check what they typed by comparing it to what comes up with "Show Answer." Is there any way to do this using Mnemosyne?

Hi, this is not currently supported in mnemosyne. An idea for this has been posted on uservoice (http://mnemosyne.uservoice.com/forums/164265-general/suggestions/2901341-option-to-type-answer-15-work-units-), witch you can vote on it to get it implemented in future versions.

However, mnemosyne does support javascript in the cards, so it's possible manually place a textfield in the cards if you want to. But there is no interaction between the front card and the back card.
Personally I use notepad for typing in the answer before showing the card.

      Hi, Sora.

Here is another 'side of the story';  I though to bring it to your attention :-)

The information below is supported by science.
An exerpt from the article ( URL is below ):
1. Writing with a pen or pencil requires deliberate thought - hence improves memorization.
 2.  If your aim is recall, then stick with an old-fashioned pen or pencil.

--------------------------   My comments on the subject:
3.when typing, kids  and I :-)   likely to think ( more or less ) about the letter location on keyboard.
4. I use handwriting to learn words I failed to recall -- Helps, Helps !!
5. I said 'word' -- but I very rarely learn words outside of a sample sentence.

    Good luck to you.
