Hi,
I would like to import an old Mnemosyne database (A) from a USB stick (PortableApps Mnemosyne installation) into a Portable Apps Mnemosyne installation (B) that is on a hard disk (E: drive).

Only 18 of several thousand cards are imported from A into B.  I can only use the Mnemosyne database A on the USB stick if the stick is mounted as D-drive. Any other drive letter starts the installation (B) on the hard drive.

Any thoughts?  Any additional information that I could provide to figure this out?

Boris

Hi,

The version you find at PortableApps is not sanctioned/supported by us, I'm afraid.

Mnemosyne has its own scheme to run from an USB drive: https://mnemosyne-proj.org/help/running-usb-drive

In your case, you're probably better off copying the data directory, as opposed to importing.

Cheers,

Peter

Hi,
Sorry, I did not know. Both (A and B) installations are PortableApps. Both contain different topics.
Are you suggesting that I create two full installations (1 and 2; I have two computers) and then copy A into 1 and B into 2.
Once that is completed would you suggest syncing both 1 and 2 to get create a complete database?

Thank you

Boris

Hi,

I didn't realise they were different databases you wanted to merge. In that case, you do need to use the import functionality.

If you want to keep two USBs in sync, move the big database to a separate install on your desktop and run a sync server there. Then on the two USB keys, start from scratch according to the webpage I linked, and sync with the server.

Don't use Portable Apps, I cannot give support for third party products...

Hi,
I think that I understand and I will change my USB setup to your recommended one.
